- The study aimed to determine the prevalence of hyperuricemia and its risk factors among Jordanian patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), as prior data on this was limited.
- A cross-sectional analysis was conducted with 655 T2DM patients, collecting data on demographics, clinical history, and several health measurements including serum uric acid levels.
- Results indicated that 28.1% of participants had hyperuricemia, with significant associations found in females, those taking certain medications (ACE inhibitors, ARBs, β-blockers), larger waist circumferences, and a family history of hyperuricemia.
