Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are excellent cell internalizing agents for hydrophobic drug/dye moieties. We exploited this property of CPPs for the cell internalization of BF -oxasmaragdyrin by constructing covalent conjugates of BF -oxasmaragdyrin with CPPs (CRGDK and polyarginine (R )) using a solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) methodology. The CPP-conjugated BF -oxasmaragdyrins were purified by reversed-phase HPLC and characterized by mass spectrometry.

To develop the next-generation energy storage systems, lithium-sulfur batteries represent an attractive option due to its high theoretical capacity, and energy density. In this work, MoS₂/rGO (reduced graphene oxide) was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and sulfur added by the melt diffusion method. The as-prepared MoS₂/rGO has strong polysulfides entrapping, high conductivity, large surface area, and high catalytic activity, consequently resulting in enhanced rate performance and cycling capability of Li-S batteries.

Background: Fragile X syndrome (FXS), a neurodevelopmental disorder, is a leading monogenetic cause of intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. Notwithstanding the extensive studies using rodent and other pre-clinical models of FXS, which have provided detailed mechanistic insights into the pathophysiology of this disorder, it is only relatively recently that human stem cell-derived neurons have been employed as a model system to further our understanding of the pathophysiological events that may underlie FXS. Our study assesses the physiological properties of human pluripotent stem cell-derived cortical neurons lacking fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP).

Cognitive impairment (CI) is common in patients with chronic kidney disease, and its prevalence increases in patients on hemodialysis (HD). Different factors were identified to be the cause of cognitive dysfunction, of which Vitamin D, which is known to have pleiotropic effects, has been implicated for the neurocognitive decline of functions. We assessed the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction in patients on HD in our center and also studied the deficiency of Vitamin D on CI.

The ribosomal p70 S6 Kinase 1 (S6K1) has been implicated in the etiology of complex neurological diseases including autism, depression and dementia. Though no major gene disruption has been reported in humans in RPS6KB1, single nucleotide variants (SNVs) causing missense mutations have been identified, which have not been assessed for their impact on protein function. These S6K1 mutations have the potential to influence disease progression and treatment response.

Despite the growing importance of volatile functionalized diazoalkanes in organic synthesis, their safe generation and utilization remain a formidable challenge because of their difficult handling along with storage and security issues. In this study, we developed a bench-stable difluoroacetaldehyde N-triftosylhydrazone (DFHZ-Tfs) as an operationally safe diazo surrogate that can release in situ two low-molecular-weight diazoalkanes, diazoacetaldehyde (CHOCHN ) or difluorodiazoethane (CF HCHN ), in a controlled fashion under specific conditions. DFHZ-Tfs has been successfully employed in the Fe-catalyzed cyclopropanation and Doyle-Kirmse reactions, thus highlighting the synthetic utility of DFHZ-Tfs in the efficient construction of molecule frameworks containing CHO or CF H groups.

The assembly of suitably designed van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures represents a new approach to produce artificial systems with engineered electronic properties. Here, we apply this strategy to realize synthetic semimetals based on vdW interfaces formed by two different semiconductors. Guided by existing ab initio calculations, we select WSe and SnSe mono- and multilayers to assemble vdW interfaces and demonstrate the occurrence of semimetallicity by means of different transport experiments.
