Interprofessional collaboration between health sciences librarians and health professions faculty to implement a book club discussion for incoming students.

Background: The following case example provides an overview of one innovative way to engage health professions faculty with health sciences librarians in the development of an interprofessional book discussion and identifies strategies to address implementation challenges. Academic health sciences librarians worked with the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Steering Committee to organize interprofessional book discussion groups for incoming health professions students. This inaugural book discussion brought together students and faculty of different disciplines to engage students in "learning from, with, and about" other professions.

Use of anti-inflammatory agents in clinical islet cell transplants: A qualitative systematic analysis.

Immunologic and non-immunologic loss of islet cells upon their transplantation into the liver leads to suboptimal outcomes. Anti-inflammatory agents are used during autologous and allogeneic transplantation. The aim of this qualitative systematic literature review is to evaluate their clinical use and safety.

Psychiatric Care in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.

Background: Patients with cancer frequently experience neuropsychiatric symptoms due to their medical illness or its treatment. In recent decades, psychiatrists have become increasingly involved in the care of patients with cancer. However, psychiatrists may be less familiar with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), a distinct cancer treatment modality associated with multiple neuropsychiatric sequelae.

Acute Pharmacological Management of Behavioral and Emotional Dysregulation Following a Traumatic Brain Injury: A Systematic Review of the Literature.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an increasingly common cause of behavioral and emotional dysregulation among hospitalized patients. While consultation-liaison psychiatrists are often called to help manage these behaviors, acute pharmacological management guidelines are limited.

Objective: Conduct a systematic review to determine which pharmacological measures are supported by the literature for targeting agitation and aggression in the acute time period following a TBI.

Strategies for Integrating Technology as a Team Member.

Interdisciplinary health care teams have numerous opportunities to investigate more efficient health care delivery mechanisms using technology that bridges information science and human-centered care. At the onset of team formation, technology can be strategically integrated to enhance health care delivery for patients and providers using multiple strategies.
