Research indicates young individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in juvenile justice settings lack essential support, mainly due to staff members' insufficient knowledge and skills in TBI-related areas stemming from a lack of relevant professional development. This study aimed to improve services for justice-involved youths with TBI in juvenile correction facilities by establishing empirically validated core competencies tailored to their needs. Through a Delphi study involving experts in juvenile services, juvenile corrections, TBI, transition services, and professional development, we identified and refined a set of 44 competencies distributed across six domains: knowledge (12 competencies), screening (6 competencies), eligibility (3 competencies), assessment (4 competencies), intervention (10 competencies), and community reentry (9 competencies).

In our experiment, a trace amount of an organic molecule (M = 1-phenalen-1-one, 9-fluorenone, pyridine, or acridine) was seeded into a gas mix consisting of 3% O with a rare gas buffer (He or Ar) and then supersonically expanded. We excited the resulting molecular beam with ultraviolet light at either 355 nm (1-phenalen-1-one, 9-fluorenone, or acridine) or 266 nm (pyridine) and used resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) spectroscopy to probe for the formation of O in the a-Δ state, O. For all systems, the REMPI spectra demonstrate that ultraviolet excitation results in the formation of O and the oxygen product is confirmed to be in the ground vibrational state and with an effective rotational temperature below 80 K.

We report the experimental resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization spectrum of isoquinoline between 315 and 310 nm, along with correlated electronic structure calculations on the ground and excited states of this species. This spectral region spans the origin transitions to a π-π* excited state, which previous work has suggested to be vibronically coupled with a lower lying singlet n-π* state. Our computational results corroborate previous density functional theory calculations that predict the vertical excitation energy for the n-π* state to be higher than the π-π* state; however, we find an increase in the C-N-C angle brings the n-π* state below the energy of the π-π* state.

Personality disorder (PD) researchers proposed a highly innovative "paradigm-shifting" revamp for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (APA, 2013). Yet, 10 years later, Widiger and Hines (2022) summarize a developmental process plagued by disagreement and stagnation, with little evidence of the field having reaped the desired benefits of this diagnostic revolution. In this commentary, we draw on principles from entrepreneurial creation, operation, and success-positioning the PD scientists in the role of "disruptive innovator"-and summarize key principles from the entrepreneurial process that may be relevant in understanding the challenges and failures of the PD revolution to date.

The conversion of carbohydrates in biomass via fermentation is an important component of an overall strategy to decarbonize the production of fuels and chemicals. Precise control over bioreactor operation is desired for optimal productivity and product quality, and there is an increased drive to automation in biomanufacturing. All of these goals require sensors, not only of the basic parameters of temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen, but of the biomass and substrate concentrations, which directly determine the outcome of the bioprocess. While there are many innovative sensing concepts for biomass and substrate concentrations, this review focuses on sensors that are in-line with the bioreactor, providing data continuously without the removal of sample from the system.

Relational aggression-or behavior intended to harm the relationships of its victims-has been the focus of interdisciplinary study across developmental, clinical, personality, and social psychology in the last several decades. One of the primary measures used to assess relational aggression in youth is the Children's Social Behavior Scale (CSBS; Crick & Grotpeter, 1995), but despite its common usage, the construct validity of this measure has not been comprehensively assessed.
