Background: The provision of a metabolic substrate is one mechanism by which hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) of kidneys provides clinical benefit. This study aimed to describe metabolism in ex vivo human kidneys undergoing HMP before transplantation using C-labeled glucose as a metabolic tracer.
Methods: Cadaveric human kidneys were perfused with modified clinical-grade perfusion fluid (kidney perfusion solution [KPS-1], Organ Recovery Systems), in which glucose was uniformly enriched with the stable isotope C ([U-C] glucose).
Four metalloporphyrinic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were successfully synthesized and exhibited enhanced activities for the photooxidation of a sulfur mustard simulant, 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide (CEES). Among them, a Sn-porphyrin functionalized 2D MOF, namely CSLA-21-NH(Sn), showed a half-life of 1.5 min for CEES oxidation under blue LED, featuring as one of the fastest photocatalysts for CEES degradation.

This material was synthesized cation exchange from the starting cesium salt and then subjected to rigorous characterization prior to and after thermal activation. We found that IL-4 is vital for proper positioning of hematopoietic and stromal cells in steady state, and the lack of IL-4 or IL-4Rα correlates with disarrangement of both follicular dendritic cells and CD31 endothelial cells. We observed a marked disorganization of B cells in these mice, suggesting that the lymphocyte-stromal cell axis is maintained by the IL-4 signaling pathway.

Methods: Eight pairs of porcine kidneys underwent 18 hours of either oxygenated (HMP/O2) or aerated (HMP/Air) HMP in a paired donation after circulatory death model of transplantation. Circulating perfusion fluid was supplemented with the metabolic tracer universally labeled glucose.
We report the first experimental study into the thermomechanical and viscoelastic properties of a metal-organic framework (MOF) material. Nanoindentations show a decrease in the Young's modulus, consistent with classical molecular dynamics simulations, and hardness of HKUST-1 with increasing temperature over the 25-100 °C range. Variable-temperature dynamic mechanical analysis reveals significant creep behavior, with a reduction of 56% and 88% of the hardness over 10 min at 25 and 100 °C, respectively.

We test a hypothesis to explain why Ti-6242 is susceptible to cold dwell fatigue (CDF), whereas Ti-6246 is not. The hypothesis is that, in Ti-6246, substitutional Mo-atoms in α-Ti grains trap vacancies, thereby limiting creep relaxation. In Ti-6242, this creep relaxation enhances the loading of grains unfavourably oriented for slip and they subsequently fracture.
