Madarosis, defined as partial or total loss of eyelashes, is an unusual symptom that can reveal a variety of underlying conditions. We report a rare case of unilateral madarosis associated with blepharitis caused by Microsporum audouinii, a dermatophyte responsible for ringworms. An eight-year-old boy presented with ocular pruritus with erythematous squamous lesions of the right eyelid evolving for four days.

Despite the availability of various antibiotics, bacterial resistance has emerged for almost every antibiotic discovered to date. The increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains has rendered some infections nearly untreatable, posing severe challenges to health care.

The term, although rarely used in contemporary English-language medical literature, may lead to confusion due to its overlap with more commonly used terms like "nasopharyngitis." This review aims to trace the origins of the term, analyze its usage across different languages, and discuss the implications of term differences in clinical practice and medical education.

Thermoresponsive nanoparticles are exploited as drug-delivery vehicles that release their payload upon increment in temperature. We prepared and characterized thermoresponsive lipid-anchored folic acid engineered magnetic nanoparticles (LP-HP-FANPs) that combine receptor-based targeting and thermoresponsive sustained release of hesperidin (HP) in response to endogenous inflammation site temperature. The progressive surface engineering of NPs was validated by FTIR analysis.

Duox activation involves Ca binding to its EF-hand Domain (EFD), which contains two EF-hands (EFs). In this study, we characterized a truncated EFD using spectrometry, calorimetry, electrophoretic mobility, and gel filtration to obtain its Ca binding thermodynamic and kinetics, as well as to assess the associated conformational changes.

However, their interactions and effects on psychiatric symptoms are less understood. In this study, we report a case of a 43-year-old male with schizophrenia and diabetes with exacerbated paranoid delusions upon semaglutide administration for weight loss; symptoms peaked at higher doses and subsided after dose reduction.

The objective of this study was to compare clinical characteristics, treatments and outcomes of patients admitted with severe COVID -19 pneumonia in all four waves at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH).
Methods: A cross sectional retrospective study was conducted at the COVID unit of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH), Muzaffargarh, from April 2020 to December 2021.

Background: Studies have suggested possible multiple sclerosis (MS) prodrome with non-routine healthcare utilization as an indicator. The objective of this project was to compare utilization in the four years (years -1, -2, -3, -4) before clinically definite diagnosis and examine demographic associations.
Methods: i2B2 database search at the Medical College of Wisconsin Comprehensive MS center yielded 613 patients between 07/01/2018 and 07/01/2022.
Pregnant women and the general public are both directly impacted by cirrhosis which is a chronic liver disease. It is also widely known that women who have a history of injectable drug use and cirrhosis are more prone to experience unfavorable consequences that have a negative impact on the health of both the mother and the unborn child. Higher maternal Hepatitis-C Virus (HCV) in pregnancy viral load, length of labor, use of amniocentesis or fetal scalp monitoring and protracted membrane rupture are all the risk of perinatal transmission of HCV in newborns.

The study was carried out to analyze the impacts of boiling, steaming, and microwave cooking on the physicochemical properties, the content of bioactive compounds, and boiling effect on mineral and heavy metal content of six widely consumed vegetables in Bangladesh's north-eastern region. In comparison to raw, boiled, and microwave-cooked vegetables, those that are steam-cooked retain a higher percentage of β-carotene with the exception of carrots. Boiling vegetables led to the most substantial reduction in ascorbic acid content (from 9.

Tomato, a fruiting plant species within the Solanaceae family, is a widely used ingredient in culinary dishes due to its sweet and acidic flavor profile, as well as its rich nutritional content. Recognized for its potential health benefits, including reducing the risk of coronary artery disease and specific types of cancer, tomatoes have become a staple in global cuisine. Traditional methods for tomato maturity assessment, harvesting, quality grading, and packaging are often labor-intensive and economically inefficient.

While it oftentimes follows upper respiratory infections and presents with palpable purpuras, IgAV can also present in the adult patient population and lead to systemic inflammation. In this case report, we present the case of an adult-onset IgAV complicated via gastrointestinal perforation, acute kidney injury secondary to IgA nephritis, and circulatory shock.
