Longitudinal study of endodontic and periapical status of an adult Danish population examined in 2009, 2014, and 2019: a repeated cohort study.

Objective: To describe endodontic changes in an adult Danish population (C2;2009-2014-2019) and compare them with a similar cohort (C1;1997-2003-2008).

Material And Methods: A randomly selected cohort (C2) with three full-mouth radiographic examinations. The frequencies of teeth, apical periodontitis (AP), root filled teeth, and lost teeth in C2 were compared to a similar cohort (C1) using regression analyses; effect of age, cohort, and period was assessed.

A Questionnaire Study to Assess the Belief and Barrier to Blood Donation and the Influence of Educational Intervention on Urban and Rural Patients.

Objective:  Blood transfusion services are an essential part of any healthcare delivery system in today's clinical world with advanced medicines because blood is in high demand during various medical emergencies. Improving knowledge and hastening the development of a positive attitude toward blood donation in society should be the goal of developing an efficient strategy for sustaining a safe and adequate blood supply.

Aim:  The study aims to explore the knowledge, attitude, and motivation toward blood donation among urban and rural patients attending the outreach program.

Root filled teeth in two parallel Danish cohorts: A repeated longitudinal cohort study.

Aim: The aim of the study was to compare the frequency of root filled teeth and quality of root fillings (RFs) in two parallel, Danish cohorts each examined over 10 years and to evaluate factors associated with apical periodontitis (AP) and extraction of root filled teeth.

Methodology: Two randomly selected cohorts (C1, C2) from Aarhus (age: 20-64 years) were followed for approximately 10 years, with full-mouth radiographic surveys performed at 5-year intervals (C1: 1997-2003-2008; C2: 2009-2014-2019). Frequency of root filled teeth, quality of RFs and coronal restorations, periapical status and tooth extraction were registered.

Dimensional changes of endodontic sealers-An in vitro model simulating a clinical extrusion scenario during 18 months.

Objectives: To examine the dimensional changes of endodontic sealers during 18 months using three-dimensional (3D) surface scanning and subtraction radiography in a novel in vitro sealer-extrusion model.

Material And Methods: Fifty endodontically instrumented acrylic teeth were randomly allocated to five groups (n = 10) filled with Apexit Plus, AH Plus, BioRoot RCS, TubliSeal EWT, and gutta-percha (control). Freshly mixed sealers were intentionally extruded during obturation.

Isolation and Genomic Characterization of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron Variant Obtained from Human Clinical Specimens.

Due to the failure of virus isolation of the Omicron variant in Vero CCL-81 from the clinical specimens of COVID-19 cases, an initial in vivo and subsequent in vitro approach was utilized for the isolation of the virus. A total of 74 oropharyngeal/nasopharyngeal specimens were collected from SARS-CoV-2 positive international travellers and a contact case at Delhi and Mumbai, India. All the specimens were sequenced using next-generation sequencing and simultaneously inoculated onto Vero CCL-81 cells for virus isolation.

Detection and isolation of SARS-CoV-2 Eta variant from the international travelers and local residents of India.

International travel has been the major source for the rapid spread of new SARS-CoV-2 variants across the globe. During SARS-CoV-2 genomic surveillance, a total of 212 SARS-CoV-2 positive clinical specimens were sequenced using next-generation sequencing. A complete SARS-CoV-2 genome could be retrieved from 90 clinical specimens.

Background: The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants in places where the virus is uncontained poses a global threat from the perspective of public health and vaccine efficacy. Travel has been important factor for the easy spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants worldwide. India has also observed the importation of SARS-CoV-2 variants through international travelers.

Human Group IIA Phospholipase A-Three Decades on from Its Discovery.

Phospholipase A (PLA) enzymes were first recognized as an enzyme activity class in 1961. The secreted (sPLA) enzymes were the first of the five major classes of human PLAs to be identified and now number nine catalytically-active structurally homologous proteins. The best-studied of these, group IIA sPLA, has a clear role in the physiological response to infection and minor injury and acts as an amplifier of pathological inflammation.

Aim: To compare the endodontic and periapical status of two similar adult Danish populations examined in 1997-1998 and 2007-2009, respectively.

Methodology: Two populations from Aarhus County, Denmark (age range: 20-64 years) were randomly selected using the Danish Civil Registration System. Full-mouth intraoral radiographs (14 periapical, 2 bitewing) of 616 individuals in 1997-1998 (C1: 16 018 teeth) and 398 individuals in 2007-2009 (C2: 10 668 teeth) were taken to ascertain the number of teeth, presence of root fillings (RFs) and apical periodontitis (AP) using the periapical index (PAI).

Unravelling the RNA-Binding Properties of SAFB Proteins in Breast Cancer Cells.

Scaffold attachment factor B1 (SAFB1) and SAFB2 proteins are oestrogen (ER) corepressors that bind to and modulate ER activity through chromatin remodelling or interaction with the basal transcription machinery. SAFB proteins also have an internal RNA-recognition motif but little is known about the RNA-binding properties of SAFB1 or SAFB2. We utilised crosslinking and immunoprecipitation (iCLIP) coupled with high-throughput sequencing to enable a transcriptome-wide mapping of SAFB1 protein-RNA interactions in breast cancer MCF-7 cells.

Materials & Methods: The present study was performed on 100 K-files, 21 mm long and of size 25. Of these, 20 files were taken as control group, and the remaining 80 files were divided into 4 groups of 20 files each and they were tested for the efficacy of sterilization with different methods: Autoclave, glass bead, glutaraldehyde and CO2 laser.

Laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy in the ultraviolet regime has been used for the detection of biochemical through a fiber coupled CCD detector from a distance of 2 m. The effect of concentration and laser excitation energy on the fluorescence spectra of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) has been investigated. The signature fluorescence peak of NADH was centred about 460 nm.

Aim: To evaluate and compare the serum IgM level in diabetic and nondiabetic patients with chronic periodontitis.

Materials And Methods: A total of 60 patients were selected for the study and divided into four groups, diabetic with periodontitis, diabetic without periodontitis, nondiabetic with periodontitis and nondiabetic without periodontitis (control) were analyzed for the quantitative estimation of serum immunoglobulins M by turbidimetric immunoassay. The serum of the diabetic and nondiabetic patients was evaluated and turbidimetric method was used for immunological assay by using Quantia IgM turbidimetric immunoassay for estimation of immunoglobulin IgM in human serum.

Route visualization using detail lenses.

We present a method designed to address some limitations of typical route map displays of driving directions. The main goal of our system is to generate a printable version of a route map that shows the overview and detail views of the route within a single, consistent visual frame. Our proposed visualization provides a more intuitive spatial context than a simple list of turns.

Generating 3D building models from architectural drawings: a survey.

Automatically generating 3D building models from 2D architectural drawings has many useful applications in the architecture engineering and construction community. This survey of model generation from paper and CAD-based architectural drawings covers the common pipeline and compares various algorithms for each step of the process.

Compressed facade displacement maps.

We describe an approach to render massive urban models. To prevent a memory transfer bottleneck we propose to render the models from a compressed representation directly. Our solution is based on rendering crude building outlines as polygons and generating details by ray-tracing displacement maps in the fragment shader.
