Background: Decision-making in the management of patients with retroperitoneal sarcoma is complex and requires input from a number of different specialists. The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of agreement in terms of resectability, treatment allocation, and organs proposed to be resected across different retroperitoneal sarcoma multidisciplinary team meetings.

Methods: The CT scans and clinical information of 21 anonymized retroperitoneal sarcoma patients were sent to all of the retroperitoneal sarcoma multidisciplinary team meetings in Great Britain, which were asked to give an opinion about resectability, treatment allocation, and organs proposed to be resected.

Unlabelled: This Delphi exercise aimed to gather consensus surrounding risk factors, diagnosis, and management of chyle leaks after esophagectomy and to develop recommendations for clinical practice.

Background: Chyle leaks following esophagectomy for malignancy are uncommon. Although they are associated with increased morbidity and mortality, diagnosis and management of these patients remain controversial and a challenge globally.

Introduction: Multimodal treatment of patients with advanced pelvic malignancies (APM) is challenging and surgical expertise is usually concentrated in highly specialised centres. Given significant regional variation in APM surgery, surgical training represents a cornerstone in standardising and future-proofing of this complex therapy. The aim of this study was to describe the availability and current satisfaction levels with surgical training for APM.

Introduction: Local recurrence (LR) is one of the main pitfalls in surgery for extremities soft tissue sarcoma (eSTS). Achieving clear histopathological margins is the most important factor to reduce the risk of LR, but the ability to do so depends on not only surgical technique but also the interplay between tumor biology, anatomical location and surgical approach. The balance between postoperative morbidity and oncological benefits in reducing the risk of LR needs to be considered.

Introduction: Presence of intraluminal viable cancer cells implanting into the anastomosis has been proposed as a potential cause for developing local recurrence in patients undergoing anterior resection for rectal cancer. Rectal washout has been proposed as a method to prevent this from happening. There have been conflicting reports in literature regarding the effect of rectal washout on local recurrence.

Background: Primary mesenteric soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are rare and limited evidence is available to inform management. Surgical resection is challenging due to the proximity of vital structures and a need to preserve enteric function.

Objectives: To determine the overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) for patients undergoing primary resection for mesenteric STS.

Introduction: Simulation-based surgical skills workshops are commonly used in the surgical training programs to enhance the knowledge and psychomotor skills of the residents, but there is scarcity of objective data on their effectiveness. The aim of our study was to explore if a 1-day laparoscopic skills workshop enhanced the knowledge and skills of surgical residents in minimal access surgery and if it had any correlation with the Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) scores.

Methods: This was a quasi-experimental, single-arm, repeat measure, prospective cohort study design.

Aberrant hepatic arterial anatomy poses a challenge for the surgeon during Whipple procedure. Intraoperative injury to the aberrant vasculature results in hemorrhagic or ischemic complications involving the liver and biliary tree. We report a case of replaced right hepatic artery arising from the superior mesenteric artery in a patient with periampullary carcinoma of the pancreas, undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy.
