Objectives: COVID-19 lockdown measures have challenged people's mental health, especially among economically vulnerable households. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of exposure to COVID-19 shocks (defined as job loss, living cost pressures and changing housing conditions throughout the lockdown period) and double precarity (defined as precarity in housing and employment) on mental health outcomes for members of share households as well as the mediating effects of a range of resources.

Introduction Direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are approved for stroke prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation and treatment of venous thromboembolism. Most recent guidelines recommend DOACs over warfarin for most diagnoses given their predictable pharmacodynamics, lack of required monitoring, and safety profile. Specific outcomes such as shock, acute renal failure, and blood transfusion requirement while on oral anticoagulation compared to no anticoagulation remain unknown in patients with upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeds.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been efficacious in the treatment of intestinal dysbiosis, derangement of the native intestinal microflora, and the indications for autologous FMT are growing. A 69-year-old Caucasian man with a past medical history of paraplegia secondary to motor vehicle accident and sigmoid-end colostomy presented to his gastroenterologist with the complaint of rectal discharge. A complicated medical course pre-dated his presentation and included multiple decubitus ulcers requiring debridement and several courses of broad-spectrum antibiotics.

The photoredox cross-coupling of aryl halides and potassium alkyl trifluoroborates is a very effective means to form Csp-Csp bonds. The objective of this study was to determine adult Bermudians' perceptions of ideal weight, overweight, and body image and to decide if a discrepancy exists between their perceptions and World Health Organization standards. A cross-sectional survey of body weight perceptions was administered to 462 men (n = 207) and women (n = 255), 18-65 years of age and various body weights, living on the Island of Bermuda. Additionally, measurement of height, and weight was collected.

Objective: To demonstrate the use of a Roth net and to determine the maximum number of coins that can be removed per net.

Methods: During esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a Roth net was passed multiple times in order to retrieve 49 ingested coins without the use of an over tube.

Results: Removal of 49 coins of various sizes was accomplished.

This case series examines triple arthrodesis using articular cartilage excision without bone resection. Due to the technically demanding nature of triple arthrodesis, the authors present a nonresection technique with its perceived advantages over joint resection triple arthrodesis in the presence of reducible deformity, such as minimal shortening of bone, ease of execution, and better bony apposition. Fourteen patients with nonresection triple arthrodesis from two medical centers are included in this report.

The diverse physiological effects of somatostatin are mediated by a family of cell surface receptors that bind somatostatin selectively and with high affinity. The somatostatin receptors are members of the seven transmembrane segment receptor superfamily and molecular cloning studies have identified five types, designated sstr1-5.
