Effectiveness of ozone nanobubble treatments on high biomass cyanobacterial blooms: A mesocosm experiment and field trial.

Cyanobacterial harmful algae blooms (cyanoHABs) are a global threat to water resources, and lake managers need effective strategies to suppress or control them. Algaecides may have negative environmental impacts, and their use is becoming restricted. Nanobubble ozone technology (NBOT) is an emerging water treatment option with potentially fewer negative impacts.

Previous studies have conducted time course characterization of murine colitis models through transcriptional profiling of differential expression. We characterize the transcriptional landscape of acute and chronic models of dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) and adoptive transfer (AT) colitis to derive temporal gene expression and splicing signatures in blood and colonic tissue in order to capture dynamics of colitis remission and relapse. We identify sub networks of patient-derived causal networks that are enriched in these temporal signatures to distinguish acute and chronic disease components within the broader molecular landscape of IBD.

Evaluation of Allocation Schemes of COVID-19 Testing Resources in a Community-Based Door-to-Door Testing Program.

Importance: Overcoming social barriers to COVID-19 testing is an important issue, especially given the demographic disparities in case incidence rates and testing. Delivering culturally appropriate testing resources using data-driven approaches in partnership with community-based health workers is promising, but little data are available on the design and effect of such interventions.

Objectives: To assess and evaluate a door-to-door COVID-19 testing initiative that allocates visits by community health workers by selecting households in areas with a high number of index cases, by using uncertainty sampling for areas where the positivity rate may be highest, and by relying on local knowledge of the health workers.

A language-matching model to improve equity and efficiency of COVID-19 contact tracing.

Contact tracing is a pillar of COVID-19 response, but language access and equity have posed major obstacles. COVID-19 has disproportionately affected minority communities with many non-English-speaking members. Language discordance can increase processing times and hamper the trust building necessary for effective contact tracing.

Physical drivers facilitating a toxigenic cyanobacterial bloom in a major Great Lakes tributary.

The Maumee River is the primary source for nutrients fueling seasonal -dominated blooms in western Lake Erie's open waters though such blooms in the river are infrequent. The river also serves as source water for multiple public water systems and a large food services facility in northwest Ohio, USA. On 20 September 2017, an unprecedented bloom was reported in the Maumee River estuary within the Toledo metropolitan area, which triggered a recreational water advisory.

Background: The immune mechanisms associated with infection-induced disease exacerbations in asthma and COPD are not fully understood. Toll-like receptor (TLR) 3 has an important role in recognition of double-stranded viral RNA, which leads to the production of various inflammatory mediators. Thus, an understanding of TLR3 activation should provide insight into the mechanisms underlying virus-induced exacerbations of pulmonary diseases.

Pure tone delayed auditory feedback: effect of instructions.

This study compared the effect of instructions to the subject upon key tapping performance with pure-tone delayed auditory feedback. One set of instructions stressed the importance of maintaining tapping rate whereas a second set emphasized consistency of the pattern. A third set stressed rate and pattern equality.
