Previous studies have shown that right-sided frontal alpha asymmetry (fAA) is an electroencephalography (EEG) marker for negatively valenced emotions and a marker for negative self-perceptions of a person's psychosocial interactions. Alpha activity is affected by the changes in visual stimulation associated with eye-opening and eye-closing; theta activity is not so affected. Therefore, this analysis investigates the relationship between an individual's theta asymmetry and self-perceptions of their psychosocial interactions.

A Case of Undiagnosed Schizophrenia With Catatonia in a Hispanic Adolescent: The Significance of Social Determinants in the Diagnosis and the Efficacy of Risperidone and Lorazepam in Treatment.

Catatonia is a potentially life-threatening motor dysregulation syndrome associated with various psychiatric, medical, or developmental conditions. It is not uncommon but rarely described in the pediatric population. The timely identification of catatonia is essential as the treatment approach differs from the differential diagnoses and possible underlying conditions.

Surgical blood loss during femoral rodding in children with osteogenesis imperfecta.

Background: Historically, patients with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) have been reported to be at risk for significant surgical bleeding secondary to abnormalities in platelet function. By reviewing the operative blood loss in OI patients undergoing femoral osteotomies and rodding, we hoped to identify risk factors for excessive bleeding.

Methods: A retrospective review of 22 patients with 52 inserted femoral rods was conducted under Institutional Review Board approval.
