Seventeen 3-alkylaminoquinoxaline-2(1)-thiones and 3-alkyloxyquinoxaline-2(1)-thiones were prepared by a novel thionation protocol from the readily available quinoxaline-2,3-dione in excellent overall yields. This protocol starts with the chlorination of dione using thionyl chloride to give 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline followed by the reaction with equimolar amounts of -nucleophiles (primary amines and secondary amines) or -nucleophiles (phenols and alcohols) to principally afford 2-alkanamino-3-chloroquinoxalines or 2-alkyloxy-3-chloroquinoxalines, respectively. The chloroquinoxalines reacted with the thionation reagent -cyclohexyl dithiocarbamate cyclohexyl ammonium salt in ethanol under reflux to principally give the corresponding quinoxalin-2-yl cyclohexylcarbamodithioate that finally rearranges to give the corresponding thiones in 76-93% overall yields.

A novel series of nicotinonitrile and pyrazolyl nicotinonitrile were synthesized, and their PIM-1 kinase inhibitors and caspase activators were investigated. New Manich bases 6-8 were synthesized reaction of pyridine 4 with piperidine, dimethyl amine, and morpholine in the presence of formalin. On the other hand, the pyrazolyl analogues 10-12 were synthesized heterocyclization of acetohydrazide derivative 9 with acetylacetone, malononitrile, and ethyl cyanoacetate, respectively, in ethanol.

Background: Weight regains after bariatric surgery presents a significant challenge to long-term weight management and overall health outcomes. While clinical and surgical factors influencing bariatric outcomes have been extensively reviewed, there remains a notable gap in understanding how behavioral factors-specifically dietary habits, psychological influences, and lifestyle choices-impact long-term weight maintenance. This systematic review addresses this gap, highlighting the unique role of these behavioral factors in sustaining weight loss post-bariatric surgery.

We have designed 17 new 2-oxo-3-phenylquinoxalines the chemoselective Michael reaction of 3-phenylquinoxalin-2(1)-one with acrylic acid derivatives. The ester, ethyl 3-(2-oxo-3-phenylquinoxalin-1(2)-yl)propanoate, was reacted with hydroxylamine and hydrazine to produce -hydroxy-3-(2-oxo-3-phenylquinoxalin-1(2)-yl)propanamide and hydrazide, respectively. Further modifications were made through reactions with isothiocyanates and azide coupling with amines, yielding thiosemicarbazides and -alkyl derivatives.

A series of 20 new structure-modified quinolin-2-one derivatives were prepared for biological evaluation. This was successfully achieved based on chemoselective reactions of heterocyclic amides with acrylic acid derivatives, which gave 3-[2-oxoquinolin-1-(2)-yl] propanoic acid derivatives (N-substitution via a unique behavior). The ester was reacted with hydrazine to afford the corresponding hydrazide.

The continued circulation of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) in Egypt, despite the use of various vaccines, is a serious problem that requires continuous detection of IBDV. In the current study, real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction testing of 100 diseased chicken flocks during 2017-2021 revealed the presence of very virulent IBDV (vvIBDV) in 67% of the flocks, non-vvIBDV in 11%, and a mixture of both vvIBDV and non-vvIBDV in 4%. Twenty-nine IBDV isolates were submitted for partial sequencing of the viral protein 2 hypervariable region (VP2-HVR), and 27 isolates were confirmed to be genogroup A3 (vvIBDV) with 96.

The parent ethyl 3-(4-benzyl-1-oxophthalazin-2(1)-yl) propanoate (3) has 25 compounds. Their respective mono, dipeptides and hydrazones derivatives were produced by chemoselective -alkylation addition reaction of 4-benzylphthalazin-1(2)-one (2) with ethyl acrylate and anhydrous potassium carbonate to give ethyl 3-(4-benzyl-1-oxophthalazin-2(1)-yl) propanoate (3). The ester 3 was hydrazinolyzed to give the corresponding hydrazide 3-(4-benzyl-1-oxophthalazin-2(1)-yl) propanehydrazide (5), then azide 6 coupled with amino acid ester hydrochloride and/or amines to afford several parent esters 8a-c, then a series of hydrazinolyzed reactions occurred to give corresponding hydrazides 9a-c.

The parent 2-(4-benzyl-1-oxophthalazin-2(1H)-yl)-acetohydrazide (4) has twenty-nine compounds. The starting material for their corresponding mono, dipeptides and reactions with active methylene compounds were produced by chemoselective N-alkylation of 4-Benzyl-2H-phthalazin-1-one (2) with ethyl chloroacetate to afford (4-benzyl-1-oxo-1H-phthalazin-2-yl) methyl acetate (3). The ester 3 was hydrazinolyzed to give hydrazide 4, then azide 5 coupled with amino acid ester hydrochloride and/or amines to produce several monopeptides, then the methyl (2-(4-benzyl-1-oxophthalazin-2(1H)-yl) acetyl) glycinate (7a) was hydrazinolyzed to produce corresponding hydrazide 2-(4-benzyl-1-oxophthalazin-2(1H)-yl)-N-(2-hydrazineyl-2-oxo ethyl) acetamide (8a).

Novel semisynthetic coumarin derivatives were synthesized to be developed as chemotherapeutic anticancer agents through topoisomerase II, VEGFR2 inhibition that leads to apoptotic cancer cell death. The coumarin amino acids and dipeptides derivatives were prepared by the reaction of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid with amino acid methyl esters following the ,-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) method and 1-hydroxy-benzotriazole (HOBt), as coupling reagents. The synthesized compounds were screened towards VEGFR2, and topoisomerase IIα proteins to highlight their binding affinities and virtual mechanism of binding.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a category of metabolic illness characterized by high blood sugar levels and insufficient pancreatic insulin production or activity within the body. The most common type of diabetes is type II diabetes, which is a metabolic condition characterized by insulin resistance and pancreatic islet β-cell failure, resulting in hyperglycemia. The goal of this study was to examine the anti-diabetic implications of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and/or pyrazolopyrimidine in type II diabetic rats.
