Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare neoplasm with no known cause. This sarcoma is characterized by morphology similar to that demonstrated by mature tissue histiocytes and mostly afflicts adults. HSs typically have a poor prognosis due to a rapidly progressive clinical course.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between prediagnostic blood metal levels and PD risk.
Methods: A case-control study was nested in a prospective European cohort, using erythrocyte samples collected before PD diagnosis.
Plastic pollution is a major global environmental issue due to its structural complexity and poor biodegradability. Biological approaches are appropriate due to cost effectiveness and environmental friendliness, however effective polymer degradation is still in its infancy. As biological treatments are slower than physical and chemical approaches, they could be applied in conjunction with pre-treatment techniques such as photo-oxidation, heat treatment, and chemical treatments.

The asymmetrical distribution of the cellular organelles inside the cell is maintained by a group of cell polarity proteins. The maintenance of polarity is one of the vital host defense mechanisms against pathogens, and the loss of it contributes to infection facilitation and cancer progression. Studies have suggested that infection of viruses and bacteria alters cell polarity.

Studies suggest infection and infection-based inflammatory responses are major risk factors for sPTB. Considering the important role of anti-inflammatory proteins in pregnancy, the study aimed to find the association between anti-inflammatory LGALS13 gene variants IVS2-22 A/G (rs2233706) and IVS3+72 T/A (rs2233708) and the risk of sPTB during Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum infection in Indian population.

Aim: To evaluate the utility of ApneaGraph® AG 200 in diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) as compared to Polysomnography, localization of the site of upper airway obstruction, and the success rate of surgery.
Methods: A prospective study was conducted including fifteen patients of OSA undergoing surgical treatment. All patients underwent sequential overnight ApneaGraph (AG) and Polysomnogram (PSG) before and after 3 months following surgery.
The urease inhibitor N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT) has recently attracted a lot of attention attributing to its efficiency in reducing ammonia loss from urea fertiliser applied to temperate grassland soils. Ammonia gas lost to the environment causes soil acidification, eutrophication and contributes to global warming through increased greenhouse gas emissions and ozone layer depletion. The active chemical NBPT blocks the soil microbial enzyme (urease) and reduces ammonia emission.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFRibonucleic acid (RNA) molecules serve as master regulators of cells by encoding their biological function in the ribonucleotide sequence, particularly their ability to interact with other molecules. To understand how RNA molecules perform their biological tasks and to design new sequences with specific functions, it is of great benefit to be able to computationally predict how RNA folds and interacts in the cellular environment. Our workflow for computational modeling of the 3D structures of RNA and its interactions with other molecules uses a set of methods developed in our laboratory, including MeSSPredRNA for predicting canonical and non-canonical base pairs, PARNASSUS for detecting remote homology based on comparisons of sequences and secondary structures, ModeRNA for comparative modeling, the SimRNA family of programs for modeling RNA 3D structure and its complexes with other molecules, and QRNAS for model refinement.

A HLH multidisciplinary team was implemented at our institution, and we established an electronic order set to foster uniformity in the diagnostic approach. The goal of this study is to capture the impact of this diagnostic tool.

Methods: NSCLC patients undergoing lobectomy at our institute between 2009-2015 were included in this analysis (N = 492).
Background: Spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) is a global health concern. Studies reveal infections are majorly responsible for sPTB and immune activation markers play a role in regulation of maternal immune responses against pathogens during sPTB.
Aim: To study the mRNA expression and correlation of activation markers (CD66a, ICAM1, ITGB1, TIM3, CD25, CD95) and associated cytokines (IL-1β and IL-17)/prostaglandin receptors (EP2 and IP) in the placenta of Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum-infected sPTB women.
Background: Informal childcare centres have mushroomed in the informal settlements of Nairobi, Kenya to meet the increasing demand. However, centre providers are untrained and the facilities are below standard putting children at risk of poor health and development. We aimed to co-design and test the feasibility, acceptability, cost and potential benefits of a communities of practice (CoP) model where trained community health volunteers (CHVs) provide group training sessions to build skills and improve practices in informal childcare centres.

This is crucial from a therapeutic point of view as this determines the outcome of the treatment. This study aims to establish an automated technique to differentiate RN from brain metastasis progression using radiomics with machine learning.

The fragmentation of oligonucleotides by mass spectrometry allows for the determination of their sequences. It is necessary to understand how oligonucleotides dissociate in the gas phase, which allows interpretation of data to obtain sequence information. Since 2014, a range of fragmentation mechanisms, including a novel internal rearrangement, have been proposed using different ion dissociation techniques.

This led the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) in India to decide for the nationwide roll-out of the Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV). However, the introduction of PCV became more complex in the face of unprecedented challenges set forth by the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, approximately one-third of patients develop disease relapse and intracranial metastasis was considered rare. The incidence of sarcoma brain metastasis is thought to have increased and is associated with grim outcomes.

Interventions to maintain muscle strength may mitigate the age-related loss of physical function, thus maximizing health span. The work on environmental enrichment (EE), an experimental paradigm recapitulating aspects of an active lifestyle, has revealed EE-induced metabolic benefits mediated by a brain-fat axis across the lifespan of mice.

Approximately 25 million children missed one or more doses of the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTP3) vaccine in 2021 and it is estimated that close to 30% of the world's children missing the first dose of DTP, known as zero-dose, live in urban and peri-urban settings.
Methods: The aim of this research is to improve understanding of urban immunization equity through a qualitative review of mixed method studies, urban immunization strategies and funding proposals across more than 70 urban areas developed between 2016 and 2020, supported by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
In cancer development and its clinical course, bacteria can be involved in etiology and secondary infection. Regarding etiology, various epidemiological studies have revealed that can directly impact gastric carcinogenesis. The -associated virulence factor cytotoxin-associated gene A perhaps plays an important role through different mechanisms such as aberrant DNA methylation, activation of nuclear factor kappa B, and modulation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

Micro-RNAs (miRNAs) have been known to be upregulated/downregulated in various reproductive-associated diseases such as ectopic pregnancy, preterm birth and pre-eclampsia. However, there is paucity of literature on miRNA profile in C.
