The United Kingdom, particularly Scotland, is a key destination for international medical graduates (IMGs), who now make up a substantial part of the National Health Service (NHS) workforce. These IMGs encounter several challenges when integrating into the NHS, with language barriers being especially significant. Although many IMGs are educated in English, they frequently struggle with the intricacies of Scottish languages and dialects, which are vital for good patient care.

Objectives: This study aims to compare differences in mandibular canal (MC) location between dentate and edentulous ridges, in the second premolar region as well as the first, second, and third molar regions using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) of Arabic and Kurdish Iraqi populations.

Materials And Methods: CBCT images of 400 subjects (200 Arabs, 200 Kurds) were collected from radiological archives. RadiAnt DICOM software (Medixant, Poland) was used for image analyses.

Statement Of Problem: The stability of mandibular removable partial dentures with bilateral distal extensions may be improved with the controlled tissue support achieved by using the altered cast impression technique, although this process is time-consuming and technique-sensitive.

Purpose: The purpose of this pilot clinical study was to compare casts generated from a conventional definitive impression with casts generated from an altered cast impression using a 3-dimensional (3D) analysis software program.

Material And Methods: Three partially edentulous participants with mandibular Kennedy Class I were enrolled, and impressions were made with the 2 techniques and poured in stone.

Introduction: Root canal sealing materials play a crucial role in an endodontic procedure by forming a bond between the dentinal walls and the gutta-percha. The current study aims to analyse the dentinal tubule penetration and adhesive pattern, including the push-out bond strength of six commercially available root canal sealers.

Methodology: Eighty-four mandibular first premolars were split into seven groups (and n = 12), Group 1: Dia-Root, Group 2: One-Fil, Group 3: BioRoot RCS, Group 4: AH Plus, Group 5: CeraSeal, Group 6: iRoot SP, Group 7: GP without sealer (control).

Introduction: Cleft lip and palate (CLP) are the most common congenital craniofacial deformities that can cause a variety of dental abnormalities in children. The purpose of this study was to predict the maxillary arch growth and to develop a neural network logistic regression model for both UCLP and non-UCLP individuals.

Methods: This study utilizes a novel method incorporating many approaches, such as the bootstrap method, a multi-layer feed-forward neural network, and ordinal logistic regression.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is highly sensitive to motion, resulting in artifacts and lowering image quality. Laryngeal mask airway (LMA) provides numerous advantages over endotracheal tubes as it reduces laryngospasm, coughing, and the risk of postoperative desaturation.

Objectives: We aimed to compare LMA with oral airway for airway management during brain MRI in terms of reducing motion artifacts, which can improve image quality.

Background: The study aimed to evaluate 1) the amount of color variations presents within clinical images of maxillofacial prosthetic silicone specimens when photographed under different clinically relevant ambient lighting conditions, and 2) whether white balance calibration (WBC) methods were able to mitigate variations in ambient lighting.

Methods: 432 measurements were acquired from standardized images of the pigmented prosthetic silicone specimens within different ambient lighting conditions (i.e.

Background Color selection for discolored teeth or for edentulous patients is a subjective process in dentistry. To the best of the authors' knowledge, there is no objective method for tooth color selection for edentulous patients. Several studies have investigated the relationship between tooth color and skin color and the ability to use skin color as a guide to select tooth color in dental rehabilitation cases.

Gingival enlargement may manifest as a side effect of medications (calcium channel blockers, anticonvulsants, or immunosuppressants) and may be associated with inflammation, malignancy, or genetic inheritance. This condition has a significant impact on a patient's quality of life and affects their oral health status. This case report describes the management of a 68-year-old gentleman who presented with generalized gingival enlargement and chronic periapical abscess originating from tooth 34, which served as an abutment for a fixed partial prosthesis.

Patient dissatisfaction with tooth discoloration as a result of tetracycline therapy is not uncommon. To address patients' aesthetic demands, conservative bleaching treatments were considered before more invasive, irreversible treatments such as dental veneers or crowns. Bleaching is a relatively non-invasive, safe, and cost-effective method of achieving a desirable result.

Background: Two patients received ocular injuries from rusted metallic projectiles at their industrial workplaces. Said injuries resulted in the loss of their eyes by evisceration surgeries to prevent fatal infections.

Case Description: The first case, a man in his twenties, received a stock conformer immediately after surgery and started prosthetic therapy within 2 months.

The objective of this study is to report a case of severe hypocalcemia secondary to hypoparathyroidism in a pregnant woman. We report a case of a 45-year-old woman who presented for tonico-clonic seizure in the third trimester of gestation. She was diagnosed with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism for the first time during pregnancy.

Unlabelled: The objective of the study is to report a case of acute pancreatitis secondary to hypercalcemia induced by primary hyperparathyroidism in a pregnant woman at the end of the first trimester. The case included a 32-year-old woman who was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and severe hypercalcemia refractory to many regimens of medical therapy in the first trimester of pregnancy. She was successfully treated with parathyroidectomy in the early second trimester with complete resolution of hypercalcemia and pancreatitis.

Background: The aim of the study was to report our experience, comparing and evaluating the effectiveness, safety, indications, and obstacles of percutaneous placement of gastrostomy and gastrojejunostomy catheters by fluoroscopic (percutaneous fluoroscopic gastrostomy--PFG) and endoscopic (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy--PEG) techniques.

Patients And Methods: In this retrospective comparative study over a five-year period, 52 patients were referred for gastrostomy or transgastric jejunostomy procedure for various reasons. Of these, 19 patients (36.

We report a case of a 39-year-old, HIV-negative, post renal transplant patient who developed mucocutaneous Kaposi's sarcoma with lung parenchymal involvement and concurrently culture proven pulmonary tuberculosis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of this combination, which presented with cavitating lung nodules and responded well to withdrawal of immunosuppressive drugs beside antituberculous treatment.

We herein describe a new technique to improve the ultrasonic imaging of nonobstructed stone-bearing kidneys. Mannitol-induced diuresis opens up the collapsed renal collecting system and yields better ultrasonographic imaging by increasing the amount of fluid surrounding the calculi. The potential usages of this technique include ultrasound localization for percutaneous stone extraction and during ultrasonographic monitoring of stones treated by extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (ESWL).

We report a case of a blind-ending branch of a duplicated ureter associated with obstruction and urolithiasis of the contra-lateral kidney. To our knowledge, this is the first report of such association. Review of the literature indicated that the former part of the association has been reported previously, although infrequently.
