Background: The balloon expandable Myval transcatheter heart valve (THV) showed encouraging results regarding residual aortic regurgitation (AR) from multiple observational studies. The newly designed Myval Octacor has been introduced recently, aiming for a reduction in AR and improved performance.

Objectives: The focus of this study is to report the incidence of AR using the validated quantitative Videodensitometry angiography technology (qLVOT-AR%) in the first in human use of the Myval Octacor THV system.

Plants, rich in phytocompounds, have been in usage since time immemorial for treating various diseases, namely, cancer. One such plant species, Allium ascalonicum (Shallot) belonging to Amaryllidaceae family is being studied here for its anti-carcinogenic properties against breast cancer. GC-MS characterization of A.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on evaluating the knowledge, attitude, and practices of health-care workers regarding the OMICRON variant of COVID-19.
  • An online questionnaire was distributed to 1000 medical staff, revealing that while they showed good practices and a positive attitude, their overall knowledge of OMICRON was lacking.
  • The conclusion emphasized the need for governments to provide training to improve knowledge about the new variant among health-care personnel.

Introduction: The world has been transformed after invention of robotics, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Their application in the medical field is well recorded; however, their application in dentistry is still being recognized. Hence, in our study, we aimed to analyze the advances in research trends in the digital and the robotics specifically to the dental fields.

Globally, breast cancer is one of the leading invasive cancers in women. Moreover, the use of chemotherapeutic drugs for treating cancer produces toxic side effects and has even led to drug resistance. This research paper focuses on targeting three heat shock proteins belonging to 70 kDa subfamily (HSP70s), predominantly, Mortalin, Binding Immunoglobulin Protein (BiP), and Stress Inducible HSP70 (Stress Inducible Heat Shock Protein 70) involved in breast cancer malignancy using different phytocompounds of onion.

Background: Acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is a challenging medical emergency with high mortality and its prevalence is increasing in India. There is paucity of data on ADHF in the country.

Methods: Indian College of Cardiology National Heart Failure Registry (ICCNHFR) is an on-going observational registry on ADHF contributed by 22 hospitals across India; and we present the in-hospital and 30-day outcomes of ADHF patients enrolled from August 2018 to July 2019.

Background: A significant number of patients with prosthetic valve thrombosis have a prothrombin time international normalised ratio in the therapeutic range at presentation. Surgery may not be possible in many patients and traditionally a high international normalised ratio is considered a relative contraindication for fibrinolysis.

Methods: We conducted an observational study in patients with left-sided obstructive prosthetic valve thrombosis with international normalised ratio at or above the therapeutic range at presentation who received fibrinolysis.

Objective: Reteplase (recombinant plasminogen activator) is a mutant of alteplase. It has a longer half-life than its parent molecule and has shown better vessel patency rates in acute myocardial infarction. In this study, we analyzed the efficacy and safety of reteplase in acute pulmonary embolism (PE).

Background: Takayasu's arteritis (TA) is a rare inflammatory, granulomatous vasculitis primarily involving the aorta and its major branches. Clinical and angiographic manifestations of the disease differ in various parts of the world.

Objectives: To analyze the clinical features, angiographic profile, and endovascular interventions in TA patients (pts).

Background: Heart failure (HF) is a growing public health problem. Patients often present to emergency department (ED) with acute onset dyspnea where a rapid triage is required to avoid misdiagnosis and to institute appropriate therapy. An objective risk-stratification in the ED is warranted to identify patients at high risk of adverse outcomes, so that more intensive therapy and vigilant follow-up after discharge are instituted.

Congenital absence of the pulmonary valve is a rare congenital cardiac malformation, usually seen in association with tetralogy of Fallot. Patients generally present early in life with respiratory distress or recurrent respiratory tract infections, failure to thrive, cyanosis, infective endocarditis, or heart failure. Isolated absent pulmonary valve is quite rare and may be discovered in older age-group as in our patient, a nine-year-old male child who presented with atypical symptoms of exertional chest pain.

Background: Diseases of the heart valves constitute a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide with rheumatic heart disease (RHD) being the dominant form of valvular heart disease (VHD) in developing nations. The current study was undertaken at a tertiary care cardiac center with the objective of establishing the incidence and patterns of VHD by Echocardiography (Echo).

Methods: Among the 136,098 first-time Echocardiograms performed between January 2010 and December 2012, an exclusion criterion of trivial and functional regurgitant lesions yielded a total of 13,289 cases of organic valvular heart disease as the study cohort.

Background: The objective of the present study was to determine the prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients undergoing surgery for various valvular as well as non-valvular cardiac pathologies.

Methods: Patients with various valvular and non-valvular pathologies were selected. All patients with age ≥ 40 years and an indication for open heart surgery underwent pre-operative coronary angiogram and were included in the study.

The use of thrombolytic therapy in haemodynamically stable patients with sub-massive pulmonary embolism is still controversial. We conducted this study to observe the safety and efficacy of thrombolytic therapy in acute pulmonary embolism patients with normal blood pressure in a tertiary cardiac centre. In this study, 130 patients with sub-massive pulmonary embolism who had right-ventricular dysfunction were included and treated with thrombolytic therapy.

The occurrence of an acute myocardial infarction (MI) following a scorpion sting has been very rarely reported in the previous literature. Possible pathogenetic mechanisms include severe hypotension due to hypovolaemic shock and coronary spasm with subsequent thrombosis of coronary vessels developed after the release of vasoactive, inflammatory and thrombogenic substances contained in the scorpion venom. All of the previously reported cases had normal coronary angiogram.
