The impact of obstructive sleep apnea treatment on microvascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes: a feasibility randomized controlled trial.

Study Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with an increased risk of diabetes-related complications. Hence, it is plausible that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) could have a favorable impact on these complications. We assessed the feasibility of conducting a randomized control trial in patients with type 2 diabetes and OSA over 2 years.

Optimal pharmacotherapy pathway in adults with diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain: the OPTION-DM RCT.

Background: The mainstay of treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain is pharmacotherapy, but the current National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guideline is not based on robust evidence, as the treatments and their combinations have not been directly compared.

Background: Diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP) is common and often distressing. Most guidelines recommend amitriptyline, duloxetine, pregabalin, or gabapentin as initial analgesic treatment for DPNP, but there is little comparative evidence on which one is best or whether they should be combined. We aimed to assess the efficacy and tolerability of different combinations of first-line drugs for treatment of DPNP.

Symptomatic isolated axillary lymph node sarcoidosis: an unusual presentation.

Pituitary metastases of Hürthle cell carcinoma of the thyroid.

An 85-year-old man was referred to endocrinology following the discovery of an incidental pituitary mass on cranial imaging which was thought to be a non-functioning adenoma during an admission with headaches, lethargy, confusion and hyponatraemia. He had a history of Hürthle cell carcinoma of the thyroid treated with total thyroidectomy, ablative radioiodine therapy and thyroxine replacement. Subsequently, he developed metastatic spread to the neck, lungs and skeleton.
