Background: Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (AKI) is highlighted by high incidence of mortality and morbidity. Scutellarin is a flavone extracted from certain medicinal plants with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties. This research study was done to investigate the beneficial effect of scutellarin on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) murine model of AKI.

The presence of SARS-CoV-2 viral protein in the brainstem, which includes cardiovascular control centers, has been documented previously. Given the changes in autonomic nervous system function evaluated by heart rate variability (HRV) metrics, which are observed even prior to clinical signs, the potential effect of SARS-CoV-2 on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) center is likely.

In the present study, we investigated the protective impacts of silymarin (SIL) and silymarin nanoemulsion (SLN) against cardiotoxicity caused by 5-FU in rats. Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into six groups as follows: control, SLN (5 mg/kg), SIL (5 mg/kg), 5-FU + SLN, 5-FU + SIL, and 5-FU.

In the present study, the role of an early postnatal stress on corticosterone, glucose, and insulin levels was investigated during young adulthood.
Methods: Two groups of pups were studied, including control group (pups not receiving foot shock by communication box), and early stress group (pups receiving foot shock by communication box 2 times/day for 5 consecutive days).
Hepatotoxicity is one of the clinically adverse effects of ecstasy (3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine; MDMA) consumption. The detoxification tissue, liver, plays a central role in maintaining circulating levels of glucose and lipid. Hypoglycemia and hypotriglyceridemia have been reported due to ecstasy abuse.

Objective(s): We aimed to show that the immune system is sensitive to the detrimental effects of inequality and social injustice, and splenic vulnerability to apoptosis may also increase.
Methods: In order of better determination of immune responses to chronic social stress, we implemented food deprivation, food intake inequality, and unstable social status (a change of cage-mate every 3 days) for a period of 14 days in 60 male Balb/c mice. At the end of this stress period, nitric oxide (NO) production by peritoneal adherent cells and the serum concentration of corticosterone were measured.
Capecitabine, an effective anticancer drug in colorectal cancer chemotherapy, may create adverse side effects on healthy tissues. In the present study, we first induced colon adenocarcinoma with azoxymethane, a carcinogen agent, and then investigated the potentiality of polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer to improve capecitabine therapeutic index and decrease its adverse side effects on healthy tissues like liver and bone marrow. Other variables such as nanoparticle concentrations have also been investigated.
