Development of bio-supported photocatalysts has become a pressing need in the field of environmental remediation. This work reports the synthesis of bio-enzyme (from banana peels) inherited (ZnO/g-CN) nanocomposite by simple soft chemical method and its photocatalytic degradation ability against the mixed dye (Methylene blue (MB) + Rhodamine-B (RhB)) under UV irradiation. Flower, a highly conserved protein, crucial for endocytosis and cellular fitness, has been implicated in cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) killing efficiency through its role in cytotoxic granule (CG) endocytosis at the immune synapse (IS). This study explores the molecular cues that govern Flower-mediated CG endocytosis by analyzing uptake of Synaptobrevin2, a protein specific to CG in mouse CTL. Using immunogold electron microscopy and total internal fluorescence microscopy, we found that Flower translocates in a stimulus-dependent manner from small vesicles to the IS, thereby ensuring specificity in CG membrane protein recycling.

Ubiquitin-related modifier 1 (Urm1) is a highly conserved member of the ubiquitin-like (UBL) family of proteins. We present an unusual case of colovesical fistula formed by a single diverticulum manifesting as prostatitis and urinary tract infection (UTI) before causing further complications. Diverticulitis is caused by inflammation of the colonic diverticula and manifests as fever and left lower quadrant pain. The patient also developed recurrent pneumaturia; upon examination, a colovesical fistula was observed on computed tomography (CT), which was managed successfully by laparoscopic repair.

Neuroinflammation is a common hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD), with NLRP3 inflammasome proven to be activated in microglia of AD patients' brains. In this study, a newly isolated biflavonoid (7,7'-di-O-methylchamaejasmin/M8) and a crude extract of the plant Khaya grandifoliola (KG) were investigated for their inhibitory effect on inflammasome activation. In preliminary experiments, M8 and KG showed no cytotoxicity on human macrophage-like differentiated THP-1 cells and exhibited anti-inflammatory inhibition of nitric oxide produced following lipopolysaccharide stimulation.

Pyroptosis is a lytic cell death mode that helps limit the spread of infections and is also linked to pathology in sterile inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases. During pyroptosis, inflammasome activation and the engagement of caspase-1 lead to cell death, along with the maturation and secretion of the inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β). Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare neoplasms primarily found in the pleural region but have been documented in diverse extrapleural sites, including the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, albeit infrequently. Here, we present a case of a 48-year-old female who presented with a right-sided nasal mass and associated ophthalmologic symptoms, ultimately diagnosed with a benign spindle cell lesion localized to the nasal cavity. The patient underwent a comprehensive evaluation involving clinical examination, radiological imaging, and histopathological analysis, leading to the identification of a benign solitary fibrous tumor.

Neuroinflammation is a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and both positive and negative associations of individual inflammation-related markers with brain structure and cognitive function have been described. We aimed to identify inflammatory signatures of CSF immune-related markers that relate to changes of brain structure and cognition across the clinical spectrum ranging from normal aging to AD. A panel of 16 inflammatory markers, Aβ42/40 and p-tau181 were measured in CSF at baseline in the DZNE DELCODE cohort (n = 295); a longitudinal observational study focusing on at-risk stages of AD.
