Background: Both osteoporosis (OP) and periodontitis are chronic inflammatory diseases associated with bone loss mediated by local and systemic factors. The two diseases share common risk factors. Previous studies have suggested that OP in itself is a predisposing factor for periodontal tissue destruction in postmenopausal women.

Background: Oral squamous cell lesions are most commonly diagnosed lesions in India. Both premalignant and malignant lesions are frequently encountered. In this study, we evaluated the role and significance of apoptotic indices (AI) and proliferative indices (PI) in premalignant and malignant squamous cell lesions of the oral cavity.

Novel CBCT and optical scanner-based implant treatment planning using a stereolithographic surgical guide: a multipronged diagnostic approach.

This report describes the use of the combination of 2 technologies (Cone-beam computed tomography and Optical 3-dimensional scan) to maximize accuracy of implant placement in an area where previous implants failed and had to be removed. This report also stresses the increased efficiency of combining technologies to fabricate stereolithographic surgical guide which, when used intraoperatively, can improve precision of placement.

A comparison of computed tomography scans and digital periapical radiographs ridge height measurements.

To investigate the agreement between computerized tomography scans (CT) and intraoral periapical digital radiographs (PA) alveolar ridge height measurements in maxillary and mandibular posterior regions. We reviewed 100 implant patient radiographic records and identified 27 mandibular sites in 19 patients and 23 maxillary sites in 13 patients with available CT scans and matching PA radiographs. The distance from the crest of the ridge to the floor of the maxillary sinus or to the superior border of the inferior alveolar canal was measured.
