Article Synopsis
  • Intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), utilizing somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP) and transcranial motor evoked potentials (MEP), is a tool used to assess nerve function during the surgical removal of intradural extramedullary spinal cord tumors (IDEMSCTs), though its effectiveness in this specific context is not fully understood.
  • This study aimed to measure the diagnostic performance of SSEP and MEP in detecting intraoperative neurological injuries and to evaluate postoperative neurological improvements in patients over a 30-day period.
  • A total of 32 patients were analyzed, with significant findings indicating that SSEP and MEP monitoring successfully guided surgical interventions, achieving a gross total resection in 87.
