Polymorphous adenocarcinoma (PAC) is an uncommon tumor that affects minor salivary glands mainly. It presents as an indolent malignancy that frequently manifests as an asymptomatic, slow-growing mass within the oral cavity, especially palate and its clinical behavior resembles that of benign neoplasm, often causing delay in the diagnosis. Here, we report a rare case of PAC of palate in a 49-year-old female patient along with a concise review of characteristics of PAC and highlight diagnostic challenges caused by the overlap of clinical and microscopic features between PAC, pleomorphic adenoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma.

Hybrid lesions comprising central giant cell granuloma and fibrous dysplasia: A diagnostic challenge for pathologist.

Hybrid lesions are the lesions consisting of association of features from different pathologies. We present a rare case of hybrid lesion with features of central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) and fibrous dysplasia (FD) involving mandible in a 33-year-old male. Hybrid lesions consisting of features of both benign fibro-osseous lesions and CGCG are very rare.

A clinical study of cysts of the maxillofacial region; and an assessment of clinico-radiologico-pathological variables affecting the formulation of a comprehensive patient need based treatment plan.

Objectives: Evaluation of clinical presentation of cystic lesions of the maxillofacial region, their relation to radiological picture, and treatment planning so as to plan and execute a patient need based treatment modality after co-relating it to the eventual histopathological diagnosis.

Methods: 25 cases with clinico-radiological diagnosis of a cyst were selected and treated, and the diagnosis was co-related to the eventual histopathological diagnosis. The patients were followed up for at least 3 months (3-12 months).

Comparing cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive and conventional subcuticular skin sutures for maxillofacial incisions--a prospective randomized trial considering closure time, wound morbidity, and cosmetic outcome.

Purpose: To compare octyl-2-cyanoacrylate (2-OCA) tissue adhesive with subcuticular suture for the closure of incisions in the maxillofacial region to determine 1) whether it is faster than traditional subcuticular suturing, 2) whether the number and length of incisions affect closure time, 3) wound morbidity, 4) patient satisfaction outcome, and 5) cosmetic outcome.

Material And Methods: In a prospective randomized clinical trial, 29 patients were allocated to 1 of 2 groups for the closure of skin incisions using 2-OCA or conventional subcuticular skin sutures. Postoperative follow-up evaluated wound healing at 5 to 10 days and at 3 months.
