Self-assembled hydrogels derived from naturally sourced polymers have gained significant interest in drug delivery applications, owing to their potential, exceptional biocompatibility and sustainable properties. This work presents the development and application of self-assembled nanocomposite hydrogels from chitosan and nanosilver as a pH responsive drug delivery system for the controlled release of doxorubicin and paclitaxel in anticancer therapy. Chitosan was functionalized with 4-formyl benzoic acid for incorporating both hydrophobic and hydrophilic anticancer drugs.

Objective: Non adherence to antiseizure medications (ASM) is a common and modifiable risk factor for poor control of epilepsy and contributes to increased hospitalizations, bias in assessing the effectiveness of therapy and inaccurate clinical decision making.The aim of the study was to estimate proportion of nonadherence to antiseizure medications among children with epilepsy and to identify clinical and demographic factors that contribute to antiseizure medication non adherence.

Methods: Consecutive subjects ≤ 18 years with epilepsy, on antiseizure medications for atleast three months, attending Pediatric Neurology OPD, Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India were included in the study.

Objectives: The use of a 500 Hz tone burst over other frequencies was adopted for the clinical recording of ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) on the basis that this stimulus frequency produces larger response amplitudes (frequency tuning) than the other frequencies. However, the possibility of reflex contamination due to a spatially displaced reference electrode from the muscle of the response origin raises questions about using an infraorbital (IO) montage. Nonetheless, the belly-tendon (BT) montage, which places both the recording electrodes over the inferior oblique muscle, increases the chances of obtaining a response with greater contribution from the inferior oblique muscle.

Background:  Simultaneous multifrequency (SiMFy) is a time-saving and reliable stimulus to determine the frequency tuning of ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP); however, the absence of 4000 Hz in SiMFy potentially makes it a less potent tool for the diagnosis of superior semicircular canal dehiscence, a pathology with an ever-increasing prevalence. Further, SiMFy was validated using only the infraorbital (IO) electrode montage. However, the recordings obtained using the IO montage might be susceptible to reference contamination introduced by a small separation between the recording electrodes and also susceptible to reflex impurity due to the spatially displaced reference electrode from the inferior oblique muscle, rendering it vulnerable to picking up responses from other muscles.

The present study examined the clinical outcomes among patients with chronic liver disease who presented with complications of portal hypertension or liver dysfunction temporally associated with the use of IBs in the absence of other competing causes.
