Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the dynamics of camphor-infused discs as active particles within a confined circular area, demonstrating their behavior similar to active chiral particles.
  • A new methodology is introduced to estimate important model parameters like linear and angular velocities, which are validated by comparing experimental results with numerical simulations.
  • The research reveals a significant accumulation of active particles at the boundary of the disc, indicating an attractive interaction that leads to unique "sliding dynamics" along the Petri dish wall, with distinct velocity and fluctuation behaviors differing from the bulk dynamics.

Several classical problems in symbolic dynamics concern the characterization of the simplex of measures of maximal entropy. For subshifts of finite type in higher dimensions, methods of statistical mechanics are ideal for dealing with these problems. R.

In this work we propose a model for open Markov chains that can be interpreted as a system of non-interacting particles evolving according to the rules of a Markov chain. The number of particles in the system is not constant, because we allow the particles to arrive or leave the state space according to prescribed protocols. We describe this system by looking at the population of particles on every state by establishing the rules of time-evolution of the distribution of particles.
