Native T1 mapping is a non-invasive technique used for early detection of diffused myocardial abnormalities, and it provides baseline tissue characterization. Post-contrast T1 mapping enhances tissue differentiation, enables extracellular volume (ECV) calculation, and improves myocardial viability assessment. Accurate and precise segmenting of the left ventricular (LV) myocardium on T1 maps is crucial for assessing myocardial tissue characteristics and diagnosing cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

Article Synopsis
  • Cardiac perfusion MRI is crucial for detecting heart diseases, and this study develops an AI-assisted method for automatically segmenting the left ventricular myocardium from DCE-MRI data.
  • The method utilizes retrospective DCE-MRI data from 55 patients and employs image registration techniques alongside a U-Net framework to analyze the different timeframes of the MRI scans.
  • Results show that the proposed method achieves a high average similarity coefficient for myocardial segmentation, indicating its effectiveness and robustness even in the presence of potential registration errors.
