[Ga]pentixafor for CXCR4 imaging in a PC-3 prostate cancer xenograft model - comparison with [F]FDG PET/CT, MRI and receptor expression.

Purpose: The aim was to characterize the properties of [Ga]Pentixafor as tracer for prostate cancer imaging in a PC-3 prostate cancer xenograft mouse model and to investigate its correlation with [F]FDG PET/CT, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and analyses.

Methods: Static [Ga]Pentixafor and [F]FDG PET as well as morphological/ diffusion weighted MRI and H MR spectroscopy was performed. Imaging data were correlated with biodistribution and CXCR4 expression in PC-3 tumors (immunohistochemistry (IHC), mRNA analysis).

Experimental observation of the crystallization of a paired holon state.

An excitation at 201 meV is observed in the doped-hole ladder cuprate Sr14Cu24O41, using ultraviolet resonance Raman scattering with incident light at 3.7 eV polarized along the rungs. The excitation is of charge nature, with a temperature independent excitation energy, and can be understood via an intraladder pair-breaking process.

Human cytomegalovirus DNA level in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

[Mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the lung--case reports].

Two patients, a young woman and a young man, with mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the lung, who were diagnosed at the Department of Phthisiopneumonology in Zabrze Silesian Medical University in Katowice are described. The principal method of diagnostics in the presented cases were bronchofiberoscopy followed by the histopathological examination of the lesions. There are no cases of massive bleeding as the side effect of this procedures described.

Orbital ordering in LaMnO3 investigated by resonance Raman spectroscopy.

Orbital ordering leads to an unconventional excitation spectrum that we investigate by resonance Raman scattering using incident photon energies between 1.7 and 5.0 eV.

[Concentration of nitric oxide exhaled air (eNO) in patients with COPD and bronchiectasis].

Unlabelled: Exhaled nitric oxide (eNO) concentration measurement may allow for noninvasive estimation of severity of airways inflammation in respiratory tract diseases. Exhaled nitric oxide concentration is a sensitive marker of bronchial inflammation in asthma. The purpose of this study was: to evaluate eNO concentration in patients with COPD and bronchiectasis; to evaluate correlation between eNO concentration and the degree of airways obstruction in patients with COPD as well as correlation between eNO and extent of bronchiectasis in HRCT; to evaluate the effect of smoking on eNO concentration in COPD group.

[Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in inhabitants of Zabrze].

In 2001 a modified MRC questionnaire and spirometry were performed in the inhabitants of Zabrze (Poland). Two hundred and thirty-nine men and 320 women aged 19-69 years were studied. Forty percent of men and 23% of women were smokers.

[Aerodynamic model of ventilation efficacy in patients after laser arytenoidectomy].

The treatment of bilateral vocal cord paralysis presents a challenge to otolaryngologists. All surgical procedures are designed to widen the lumen of the glottis without impairing vocal function and laryngeal closure during swallowing and respiration. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the laser arytenoidectomy by our own method.

The influence of laser arytenoidectomy on ventilation parameters in patients with bilateral vocal cord paralysis.

Bilateral vocal cord paralysis is a symptom that may lead to serious breathing problems. The treatment of patients with vocal cord paralysis presents a challenge to otolaryngologists. Many techniques have been developed in an attempt to improve the patient's airway insufficiency.

[Evaluation of ventilation parameters based on flow volume loop in patients with unilateral vocal cord paralysis].

[Inverted papilloma of the nose and paranasal sinuses. Long-term outcome of endoscopic endonasal resection].

There is still some skepticism about endoscopic endonasal resection of inverted papillomas. We conducted a long-term retrospective study and examined 104 patients (82 male, 22 female) with inverted papilloma who were operated at the ENT-Department of the University of Erlangen between 1974 and 1997. The endoscopic approach was chosen in each case, either alone or in combination with external approaches.

[Pulmonary microlithiasis--difference between radiology results and pulmonary function tests].

The case od 22-years old woman with pulmonary microlithiasis is described. The diagnosis was confirmed by histopathological examination of lung tissue. In electron microscopy lung fibrosis was seen.

[Lung lipoproteinosis--diagnostic problems].

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is a very rare disease, first described by Rosen in 1958. It is characterized by the accumulation of lipoproteins in the pulmonary alveoli. Clinical and radiologic presentations are typical for the interstitial lung disease.

[Half-time of erythropoietin in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases].

Presence of elevated plasma levels of erythropoietin (EPO) has been reported both in polycythaemic and normocythaemic patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The present study aimed to elucidate in what extent prolonged erythropoietin half-life time (T1/2EPO) is involved in the pathogenesis of elevated plasma EPO levels in patients with COPD. Seven normocythaemic patients (5 men and 2 women) with CODP and 6 healthy controls (4 males and 2 females) were examined.

[Chylopericardium and chylothorax of unknown etiology].

A case of a young man with chylopericardium followed by chylothorax was described. Performed diagnostic procedures did not reveal infectious, neoplastic or traumatic cause of chylothorax. Only partially deformed lymphatic system of the thorax was found.

[Ventilatory disturbances in school children with asthmatic symptoms in anamnesis].

In 102 school children aged 7 to 12 yr with diagnosed asthma or wheezing in the past 12 months spirometry was performed three times in 4 to 6 weeks intervals. Maximal expiratory flows at low lung volumes (MEF50 and/or MEF25) were reduced in more than one third of children. The reduction of MEF50 and MEF25 was more frequent, more deep, and more persistent in following tests as compared with FEV1%.

[Erythropoietin secretion in patients with chronic obstructive lung diseases during normobaric oxygen inhalation].

[Lung fibrosis after bleomycin therapy].

A case of lung fibrosis is presented in a 44 year old male in whom interstitial pulmonary changes were observed in the course of bleomycin therapy of malignant granulomatosis. Following introduction of corticosteroids a radiological, clinical and functional improvement was observed. The functional changes were analyzed during the 7 month period of treatment.
