In this study, a conditional automated driving scenario is simulated using virtual reality (VR) technology to explore whether office works presented through augmented reality (AR) affect task and takeover performance, and the neural mechanism was revealed. Sixty-four participants were recruited and their electroencephalography (EEG) was used to measure the brain activities. The results indicated that non-driving-related tasks (NDRTs) requiring higher internal attention focus resulted in poorer task and takeover performance.

We aimed to investigate the alpha (α) activity in operators experiencing boredom while performing prolonged monitoring and prospective memory tasks using different processing mechanisms. Fifty-four participants underwent electroencephalography (EEG) and were found to have poorer prospective memory performance under top-down conditions. Further, α power and synchronisation were higher during bottom-up than in top-down processes, revealing an inhibition effect of the former.

In this study, highly reproducible MIR spectroscopy and highly sensitive MALDI-ToF-MS data were directly compared for the metabolomic profiling of monofloral and multifloral honey samples from three different botanical origins canola, acacia, and honeydew. Subsequently, three different classification models were applied to the data of both techniques, PCA-LDA, PCA- kNN, and soft independent modelling by class analogy (SIMCA) as class modelling technique. All monofloral external test set samples were classified correctly by PCA-LDA and SIMCA with both data sets, while multifloral test set samples could only be identified as outliers by the SIMCA technique, which is a crucial aspect in the authenticity control of honey.

Importance: Evaluation of acute gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding using invasive endoscopic procedures comprising the standard of care (SOC)-upper endoscopy and colonoscopy-can expose the endoscopy staff to SARS-CoV-2. Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) does not generate aerosols and only requires 1 person to manage the procedure.

Objective: To examine the safety of VCE for the initial evaluation of GI bleeding at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic to identify signs of active bleeding while minimizing patient and personnel exposure, saving personal protective equipment, and avoiding invasive or unnecessary procedures.
