Introduction: Alzheimer's disease is partially characterized by the progressive accumulation of aggregated tau-containing neurofibrillary tangles. Although the association between accumulated tau, neurodegeneration, and cognitive decline is critical for disease understanding and clinical trial design, we still lack robust tools to predict individualized trajectories of tau accumulation. Our objective was to assess whether brain imaging biomarkers of flortaucipir-positron emission tomography (PET), in combination with clinical and genomic measures, could predict future pathological tau accumulation.

Context: Over-medicalization of normal pregnancy is associated with unnecessary inductions of labor leading to operative deliveries. In a busy outpatient department (OPD) or low-resource setup where ultrasound availability, experience, and cost will be a concern, routine ultrasound at term can be avoided if the clinical estimation of fetal weight is more or less equal to the actual birth weight.

Aims: To assess the reliability and validity of fetal weight estimation at term by ultrasound and clinical estimation.

Article Synopsis
  • The CTO-ARC identified the need for standardized definitions in chronic total occlusion (CTO) procedures to avoid bias in attributing complications to different crossing strategies.
  • A study analyzed data from 8,673 patients in the European Registry of Chronic Total Occlusions, finding that the antegrade approach was used in 79.2% of cases, while retrograde was used in 20.8%.
  • Results showed that alternative antegrade crossing had lower technical success rates and higher complication rates compared to true antegrade and retrograde methods, though it was primarily used as a rescue strategy in most instances.
