Infrared Reflection Absorption Spectroscopy (IRAS) on dielectric single crystals is challenging because the optimal incidence angles for light-adsorbate interaction coincide with regions of low IR reflectivity. Here, we introduce an optimized IRAS setup that maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio for non-metals. This is achieved by maximizing light throughput and by selecting optimal incidence angles that directly impact the peak heights in the spectra.

The magnetic metal-organic framework (MMOF), synthesized using the in-situ growth method, consists of ferric salt, magnetic nanoparticles, histidine, and benzene tetracarboxylic acid. Heterotrimeric G proteins can be regulated by posttranslational modifications, including ubiquitylation. KCTD5, a pentameric substrate receptor protein consisting of an N-terminal BTB domain and a C-terminal domain, engages CUL3 to form the central scaffold of a cullin-RING E3 ligase complex (CRL3) that ubiquitylates Gβγ and reduces Gβγ protein levels in cells. The cryo-EM structure of a 5:5:5 KCTD5/CUL3/Gβγ assembly reveals a highly dynamic complex with rotations of over 60° between the KCTD5/CUL3 and KCTD5/Gβγ moieties of the structure.

The systematic structure modification of metal oxides is becoming more attractive, and effective strategies for structural tunning are highly desirable for improving their practical color-modulating energy storage performances. Here, the ability of a stoichiometrically tuned oxide-hydroxide complex of porous vanadium oxide, namely [VO(OH)] for multifunctional electrochromic supercapacitor application is demonstrated. Theoretically, the pre-optimized oxide complex is synthesized using a simple wet chemical etching technique in its optimized stoichiometry [VO(OH)] with ξ = 0, providing more electroactive surface sites.

Cell wall synthesis and cell division are two closely linked pathways in a bacterial cell which distinctly influence the growth and survival of a bacterium. This requires an appreciable coordination between the two processes, more so, in case of mycobacteria with an intricate multi-layered cell wall structure.
