The concentration of trace metals Mn, Pb, Ni, Zn, and Cu in the core sediment from Kabar Tal wetland was analyzed to understand the level of contamination in the vertical profile. Additionally, total organic carbon (TOC) and available phosphorus (AP) were also analyzed to infer the biogeochemistry of trace metals and the correlation that exists among them. Five core sediments were collected at the end of the monsoon season from different locations in the study area, representing diverse anthropogenic and agricultural activities.

Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei (LMDF) is a chronic, inflammatory dermatosis of unknown etiology, characterized by multiple, monomorphic, symmetrical, reddish-brown papules over forehead, cheeks, and eyelids. Histopathology shows perifollicular epitheloid cell granuloma. Though numerous therapies, ranging from cyclines, macrolides, dapsone tranilast, isotretinoin, steroids, and tacrolimus have been tried, the results are inconsistent, except with systemic steroids.

Lasers are the standard modality for tattoo removal. Though there are various factors that determine the results, we have divided them into three logical headings, laser dependant factors such as type of laser and beam modifications, tattoo dependent factors like size and depth, colour of pigment and lastly host dependent factors, which includes primarily the presence of a robust immune response. Modifications in the existing techniques may help in better clinical outcome with minimal risk of complications.

Background: Tattoo removal has evolved over the years and though Q-switched laser is the 'workhorse' laser, it invariably requires multiple sittings, which are dependent on numerous factors, including the skin colour, location of the tattoo, age of the tattoo, colour of pigment used, associated fibrosis and the kind of tattoo treated. Though ablative lasers, both pulsed CO2 and Er:YAG, have been used for recalcitrant tattoos, very few studies have been done comparing them with pigment-specific lasers. Our study was based on the premise that ablating the epidermis overlying the tattoo pigment with Er:YAG could help in gaining better access to the pigment which would enable the Q-switched laser to work effectively with less beam scattering.
