Olanzapine (OLZ) is a commonly prescribed drug for the treatment of schizophrenia and related disorders. However, OLZ use is associated with several adverse effects, including decreased locomotor activity and increased body weight. While the majority of studies have directed their focus towards managing the metabolic side effects of OLZ, there has been limited attention given to the effects on locomotor activity.

Olanzapine (OLZ) is one of the second-generation antipsychotics drugs (APDs) used to treat several psychiatric illnesses. Olanzapine treatment is often associated with many metabolic side effects in a dose dependent manner such as obesity, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance, induction of type II diabetes and acute pancreatitis in some patients. Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (HBOT) was investigated as a tool to mitigate olanzapine metabolic side effects in rats.
