In this research, we developed and validated a liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-QToF-MS) method for simultaneous quantification of the anti-tuberculosis drugs ethambutol, isoniazid, pyrazinamide and rifampicin in human plasma. Plasma samples spiked with cimetidine (internal standard) were extracted using protein precipitation with acetonitrile containing 1% formic acid. Separation was performed using a C column under flow gradient conditions with water and acetonitrile, both containing 5 mm ammonium formate and 0.

Background: Malaria is one of the most lethal and life-threatening infectious diseases in the world, causing more than half a million deaths annually. Treatment with mefloquine and artesunate is currently recommended by the World Health Organization, and was historically the first artemisinin-based combination therapy used clinically for treatment of Plasmodium falciparum. The problem of poor-quality medicines, such as counterfeit and sub-standard anti-malarials, is a worldwide issue; therefore, it is essential to develop rapid, low cost, solvent-free, and reliable methods for routine quality control for these drugs.

Background: In this study, we developed and validated a HPLC-MS/MS method capable of simultaneously determining levodopa, carbidopa, entacapone, tolcapone, 3-O-methyldopa and dopamine in human plasma. RESULTS & METHODOLOGY: Chromatographic separation was achieved using a C8 column with a mobile phase consisting of a gradient of water and acetonitrile:methanol (90:10 v/v), both containing 0.1% formic acid.
