However, the role of completion axillary lymph node dissection (cALND) following positive sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is debated.

Methods: Forty patients receiving 5 × 5 Gy in a phase II trial were matched 1:2 to 213 patients receiving 10 × 3 Gy in two previous prospective studies for tumor type, ambulatory status, time developing motor deficits, interval between tumor diagnosis and MSCC and visceral metastases.

Postmastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) has been shown to reduce the risk of locoregional recurrence (LRR), in patients with locally advanced breast cancer who are considered of high-risk because of large tumors (>5 cm) or presence of axillary lymph-node involvement, as well as to reduce breast cancer mortality. However, controversy still remains with respect to indication of PMRT in case of early-stages invasive tumors. This review aims to analyze the impact that PMRT has on final results in women with breast tumors in different scenarios that would otherwise be considered as early breast cancer, such as extensive DCIS, tumors without axillary lymph-node involvement or with minimal microscopic nodal-involvement.

Objectives: Show the results in pain and functionality, using low-dose radiotherapy in osteoarticular degenerative disorders (OADD). Review of the evidence.
Material And Methods: Patients suffering from OADD with no response to other treatments, receive 6Gy in 6 fractions of 1 Gy, each other day, repeating the scheme if necessary.

Recent Findings: Controversy is still ongoing with respect to the indication of PMRT in the case of earlier stage invasive tumors in the presence of risk factors including young age, premenopausal status, presence of lymphovascular invasion (LVI), high tumor grade, or tumor size 2-5 cm. Simultaneously, the evolution of our understanding of breast cancer biology has led us to better identify patients for whom the administration of systemic treatment prior to surgery reduces tumor load, not only in the case of locally advanced tumors but also for earlier stages, namely in the case of unfavorable molecular subtypes.
Introduction: To evaluate whether age is a predictor of pain response after radiotherapy for painful bone metastasis (BM).
Methods: Between June 2010 and June 2014, 204 patients with BM undergoing palliative radiotherapy participated in a multicentre prospective study. Patients completed the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) to rate the intensity pain (from 0 to 10) at baseline and 4 weeks after radiotherapy.

Patients And Methods: In all, 74 patients were treated with IMRT and concurrent standard dose capecitabine. The dose of the planning target volume (PTV) encompassing the tumor, mesorectum, and pelvic lymph nodes was 46 Gy in 23 fractions; the boost PTV, at a dose of 57.
Purpose: Limited information is available comparing toxicity of accelerated radiotherapy (RT) to that of standard fractionation RT for early stage breast cancer. We report early and late toxicities of two prone regimens of accelerated intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with a concomitant boost (CB) to the tumor bed delivered over 3 or 5 weeks as compared to standard 6 week RT with a sequential electron boost.
Methods: From 2/2003 to 12/2007, 169 consecutive patients with Stage I-II breast cancer were offered the choice to undergo prone RT with either: a 6-week standard RT regimen of 46 Gy/23 fractions (fx) to the whole breast (WB), followed by a14 Gy sequential boost (SB) to the tumor bed (6wSB), a 5-week regimen of 50 Gy to WB with an IMRT CB of 6.
The investigational nature of partial breast irradiation (PBI) remains an area of controversy in the field of breast radiotherapy. While we have a long track record of conducting and strongly supporting the research in this area, we have chosen the more cautious approach of continuing to offer PBI only as part of a trial, open to selected breast cancer patients at low risk of local recurrence. This position reflects the fact that existing whole breast radiotherapy has revealed very successful in controlling local recurrences and it remains the safest choice for the patient.
