Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko (hereafter 67P) was the primary target of ESA's Rosetta mission. Hyperspectral images acquired by the Mapping channel of the Visible and InfraRed Thermal Imaging Spectrometer aboard Rosetta can be used to derive physical and compositional surface properties by detailed spectrophotometric analyses. This calls for a precise spatial co-registration between measurements and geometry information.

Magnesium is a critical raw material and its recovery as Mg(OH) from saltwork brines can be realized via precipitation. Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that often persists into adulthood. The Italian situation regarding the clinical management of childhood ADHD shows some criticalities, despite the high prevalence rate: diagnostic assessments are often inaccurate, protocols for transition from childcare services are almost non-existent and the Italian National Registry for ADHD in childhood was drawn up only in 2007, hence the first specialized services were created later than the rest of Europe. On the basis of these issues, we investigated the Italian situation with regard to disorders in adulthood, comparing the different European operational models, assuming that these critical issues are reflected in the clinical management of the disorder in adulthood.

This work describes the correction method applied to the dataset acquired at the asteroid (4) Vesta by the visible channel of the visible and infrared mapping spectrometer. The rising detector temperature during data acquisitions in the visible wavelengths leads to a spectral slope increase over the whole spectral range. This limits the accuracy of the studies of the Vesta surface in this wavelength range.

The NASA/Dawn mission has acquired unprecedented measurements of the surface of the dwarf planet Ceres, the composition of which is a mixture of ultra-carbonaceous material, phyllosilicates, carbonates, organics, Fe-oxides, and volatiles as determined by remote sensing instruments including the VIR imaging spectrometer. We performed a refined analysis merging visible and infrared observations of Ceres' surface for the first time. The overall shape of the combined spectrum suggests another type of silicate not previously considered, and we confirmed a large abundance of carbon material.

On 12 November 2014, the Philae lander descended towards comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, bounced twice off the surface, then arrived under an overhanging cliff in the Abydos region. The landing process provided insights into the properties of a cometary nucleus. Here we report an investigation of the previously undiscovered site of the second touchdown, where Philae spent almost two minutes of its cross-comet journey, producing four distinct surface contacts on two adjoining cometary boulders.

The measured nitrogen-to-carbon ratio in comets is lower than for the Sun, a discrepancy which could be alleviated if there is an unknown reservoir of nitrogen in comets. The nucleus of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko exhibits an unidentified broad spectral reflectance feature around 3.2 micrometers, which is ubiquitous across its surface.

In this dynamical environment, both the coma and the nucleus evolve during the orbit, changing their physical and compositional properties. Data acquired at Ceres by the visible channel of the Visible and InfraRed mapping spectrometer (VIR) on board the NASA Dawn spacecraft are affected by the temperatures of both the visible (VIS) and the infrared (IR) sensors, which are, respectively, a charged coupled device and a HgCdTe array. The variations of the visible channel temperatures measured during the sessions of acquisitions are correlated with the variations in the spectral slope and shape for all the mission phases. The IR channel temperature is more stable during the acquisitions; nonetheless, it is characterized by a bimodal distribution whether the cryocooler (and, therefore, the IR channel) is used or not during the visible channel operations.

Different carbonates have been detected on Ceres, and their abundance and spatial distribution have been mapped using a visible and infrared mapping spectrometer (VIR), the Dawn imaging spectrometer. Carbonates are abundant and ubiquitous across the surface, but variations in the strength and position of infrared spectral absorptions indicate variations in the composition and amount of these minerals. Mg-Ca carbonates are detected all over the surface, but localized areas show Na carbonates, such as natrite (NaCO) and hydrated Na carbonates (for example, NaCO·HO).
