The concept of "oligometastatic" disease suggests the presence of intermediate states between localized disease and widespread metastases, which may be potentially treatable with curative therapeutic strategies. Metastases local therapy (MLT) can be accomplished through various techniques such as stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), cryoablation, or surgical metastasectomy. The incorporation of MLT in the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with metastatic sarcoma is complex.

Adrenocortical carcinoma is a malignant tumor with a poor prognosis and a frequent metastatic extension. In very rare cases, a cardiac metastatic disease may occur, and surgical resection is essential for its management. MR-guided stereotactic radiotherapy is an attractive radiotherapy modality for the treatment of mobile thoracic tumors, enabling the target to be monitored continuously during irradiation, while the dosimetric plan can be adapted daily if necessary.

The aim of this work was the development of injectable radio-opaque and macroporous calcium phosphate cement (CPC) to be used as a bone substitute for the treatment of pathologic vertebral fractures. A CPC was first rendered radio-opaque by the incorporation of zirconium dioxide (ZrO). In order to create macroporosity, poly lactic--glycolic acid (PLGA) microspheres around 100 μm were homogeneously incorporated into the CPC as observed by scanning electron microscopy.

Background: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) are two distinct conditions characterized by similar symptoms including leg pain and walking limitations due to claudication. Differentiation between both origins can be difficult and characteristics such as symptom manifestations, time to relief in rest position and pain localization should be considered when determining diagnosis and the treatment plan. The objectives of this study were to compare changes in walking time to symptom change during treadmill tests and self-reported outcomes measures related to claudication, kinesophobia and global health between individuals with LSS, PAD and non-specific low back pain (nLBP).

Background: Spatial inequalities in cancer management have been evidenced by studies reporting lower quality of care or/and lower survival for patients living in remote or socially deprived areas. NETSARC+ is a national reference network implemented to improve the outcome of sarcoma patients in France since 2010, providing remote access to specialized diagnosis and Multidisciplinary Tumour Board (MTB). The IGéAS research program aims to assess the potential of this innovative organization, with remote management of cancers including rare tumours, to go through geographical barriers usually impeding the optimal management of cancer patients.

Aerolysins initially characterized as virulence factors in bacteria are increasingly found in massive genome and transcriptome sequencing data from metazoans. Horizontal gene transfer has been demonstrated as the main way of aerolysin-related toxins acquisition in metazoans. However, only few studies have focused on their potential biological functions in such organisms.

Total Worker Health (TWH) is a framework for integrating worker and workplace safety, health, and well-being, which has achieved success in European and US settings. However, the framework has not been implemented in Latin America or in agricultural sectors, leaving large and vulnerable populations underrepresented in the implementation and evaluation of these strategies to improve safety and promote health and well-being. This study presents a case study of how a TWH approach can be applied to a multinational Latin American agribusiness.

Protection against primarily respiratory infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis (TB), can likely be enhanced through mucosal immunization induced by direct delivery of vaccines to the nose or lungs. A thermostable inhalable dry powder vaccine offers further advantages, such as independence from the cold chain. In this study, we investigate the formulation for a stable, inhalable dry powder version of ID93 + GLA-SE, an adjuvanted subunit TB vaccine candidate, containing recombinant fusion protein ID93 and glucopyranosyl lipid A (GLA) in a squalene emulsion (SE) as an adjuvant system, via spray drying.

In a number of species, individuals exposed to pathogens can mount an immune response and transmit this immunological experience to their offspring, thereby protecting them against persistent threats. Such vertical transfer of immunity, named trans-generational immune priming (TGIP), has been described in both vertebrates and invertebrates. Although increasingly studied during the last decade, the mechanisms underlying TGIP in invertebrates are still elusive, especially those protecting the earliest offspring life stage, i.

The nematode Caenorhabditis elegans has been extensively used as a model for the study of innate immune responses against bacterial pathogens. While it is well established that the worm mounts distinct transcriptional responses to different bacterial species, it is still unclear in how far it can fine-tune its response to different strains of a single pathogen species, especially if the strains vary in virulence and infection dynamics. To rectify this knowledge gap, we systematically analyzed the C.
