Objective: To summarize the best evidence related to perioperative non-pharmacologic prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in patients with pancreatic cancer, and improve the quality of clinical practice.

Methods: According to the "6S" evidence pyramid model, we searched guideline networks, professional society websites, and comprehensive databases for clinical decisions, clinical guidelines, expert consensus, evidence summaries, and systematic reviews related to perioperative non-pharmacological prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in patients with pancreatic cancer. The literature quality assessment followed appropriate tools.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to assess the quality of clinical practice guidelines for preventing thrombosis related to Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) and identify effective prophylactic measures recommended in these guidelines.
  • - Researchers analyzed a total of nine guidelines using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II) and found strong performance in clarity and purpose, but lower scores in stakeholder involvement and practicality.
  • - Despite the overall positive ratings, many recommendations were based on low-quality evidence or expert opinions, indicating areas for improvement in the development of these clinical guidelines.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aims to understand breast cancer patients' intentions to prevent PICC-related thrombosis during chemotherapy, using the theory of planned behavior (TPB) as a framework.
  • - Through interviews with 14 patients, researchers identified key themes related to behavioral attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived control over preventive measures, revealing motivations and obstacles for adhering to thrombosis prophylaxis.
  • - The findings can inform future non-pharmacological interventions tailored to enhance prevention strategies for breast cancer patients, emphasizing the importance of support and overcoming barriers.
