Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF): Advances and Challenges.

This state-of-the-art review is based on the Philippe Coumel Lecture in 2024 (Figure 1). It highlights the confluence of two major cardiovascular epidemics, atrial fibrillation and heart failure, with preserved ejection fraction. In these conditions, advances in electrophysiology and heart failure physiology are intertwined and are integrated in this review.

Three-dimensional mapping and intracardiac echocardiography in the treatment of sinoatrial nodal tachycardias.

Three-dimensional mapping and intracardiac echocardiography are important tools for the study of the site of origin of an arrhythmia and its substrate. This review examines the application of these techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of sinoatrial tachycardias with a special focus on the syndrome of inappropriate sinus tachycardia. The use of these techniques in electrophysiologic mapping and interventions such as catheter ablation is discussed.
