Purpose. In this study, we evaluated our experience with salvage brachytherapy after discovery of biochemical recurrence after a prior brachytherapy procedure. Methods and Materials.

We report a case of a carcinoid of renal origin with synchronous single liver metastases on radiological studies.
Case Presentation: A 45 year-old patient who presented with abdominal pain was found on CT scan to have lesions in the right ovary, right kidney, and left hepatic lobe.
Previous studies documented that human bladder cancer cells are sensitive to the apoptotic effects of quinazoline-derived α1-adrenoreceptor antagonists and bladder tumors exhibit reduced tissue vascularity in response to terazosin. More recent evidence suggests that exposure to quinazoline α1-adrenorecptor antagonists leads to a significant reduction in prostate cancer incidence. This retrospective observational cohort study was conducted to determine whether male patients treated with quinazoline α1-adrenoceptor antagonists for either benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) or hypertension have a decreased risk of developing bladder cancer.

To assess the effect of alpha1-blocker exposure on the incidence of prostate cancer we performed an exploratory, observational cohort study.
Materials And Methods: The medical records of all male patients enrolled at Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center were searched to identify men treated with quinazoline based alpha1-adrenoreceptor antagonists between January 1, 1998 and December 31, 2002 for hypertension and/or benign prostatic enlargement.
Urologic tumors during pregnancy are rare. Presenting symptoms of malignancies may be mistaken as typical symptoms in pregnancy. Evaluation and treatment of tumors of the adrenal gland, kidney, ureter, bladder, and urethra are reviewed based upon stage and type of tumor and stage of pregnancy.

We present our hand-assisted technique for LPN. In order to meet the challenges of larger, deeper lesions and to address complications, our technique has evolved from pure hand assistance to hand assistance with hilar clamping and hemostatic adjuncts.

In this system, the most common location for the tumor is the uterus in the female and the urinary bladder in the male. To our knowledge, only 2 cases with a periurethral location for this tumor have been previously described in the English literature.

Patients with prostate cancer are initially treated with surgical resection, radiation or antiandrogen therapy. After an initial remission, however, the majority of prostate tumours evolve into a highly aggressive, metastatic androgen-independent state, for which successful therapy has not yet been established.

This study involved an immunohistochemical "profiling" of prostate tissue specimens from patients who underwent prostatectomy for localized prostate cancer, to identify apoptosis-specific alterations associated with premalignant precursor lesions. Prostate tissue was pathologically evaluated, and areas of benign acini, high-grade prostate intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN), and prostate cancer were identified.

The clinical features and microscopic, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural characteristics that help to identify this entity are described. A discussion of the behavior of malignant mesothelioma follows, as well as a possible explanation for its origin in the penis.

The instrumentation used in the radioisotope seed placement of the prostate causes trauma to blood vessels and provides a vascular access for tumor cells that can lead to potential iatrogenic dissemination and systemic failure.
Methods: Twenty-five patients treated for brachytherapy were recruited in the study.
