Fellowship directors are assumed to be distinguished in orthopedics, but the traits and training that have enabled them to achieve their leadership positions have not been assessed. : We sought to identify common demographics, research output, and educational trends of fellowship directors in orthopedics, with an emphasis on racial, ethnic, and gender diversity. : We conducted a literature review to identify published studies on fellowship directors in orthopedic surgery and found 4 cross-sectional studies of fellowship directors in spine, arthroplasty, pediatrics, and sports medicine subspecialties.

Study Design: Retrospective-Cohort INTRODUCTION: Dementia is among the most common health concerns for the aging population, characterized by steep cognitive decline and subsequent loss of independence. Limited orthopedic literature examines the influence that dementia has on patients undergoing elective spinal surgeries.

Purpose: Diphoterine is an amphoteric irrigating solution armed with rapid pH-neutralising action. It serves as an effective first-aid treatment for managing chemical burns, including chemical eye injury (CEI). However, its use is not widely adopted in current clinical practice, primarily attributed to limited clinical evidence.

Purpose: To highlight the clinical spectrum, management, and outcomes of ocular/periocular complications following high-dose external-beam radiotherapy (EBRT) for inoperable malignant maxillary sinus-involving tumors (MMST).

Methods: A retrospective, interventional case series. All patients who were diagnosed with inoperable MMST (with orbital involvement) and treated with high-dose fractionated EBRT (65 Gy in 30 fractions) at James Cook University Hospital, UK, were included.

Purpose: We hypothesised that cleaning the internal limiting membrane (ILM) with a flexible nitinol loop following diabetic vitrectomy without peeling may reduce the common occurrence of postoperative epiretinal membrane (ERM) formation.

Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing vitrectomy for proliferative diabetic retinopathy by one surgeon from 2015 to 2019 were studied and divided into 2 cohorts: the control group underwent standard surgery, and the ILM clean group underwent additional cleaning of the macular retina using a flexible nitinol loop after vitrectomy. Masked comparison of ERM on optical coherence tomography was performed at 3 months, and visual acuity (VA) was measured until 12 months postoperatively.

Objectives: To examine the effectiveness and safety of accelerated corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) for keratoconus over a 24-month period and to explore potential prognostic factors for post-treatment visual outcome and progression.

Methods: A retrospective, non-comparative, interventional case series. All patients who underwent accelerated epithelium-off CXL, using 9 mW/cm ultraviolet-A irradiation for 10 min, for progressive keratoconus in Sunderland Eye Infirmary, UK, between May 2014 and July 2016 were included.
