Background: Rectum-preservation for locally advanced rectal cancer has been proposed as an alternative to total mesorectal excision (TME) in patients with major (mCR) or complete clinical response (cCR) after neoadjuvant therapy. The purpose of this study was to report on the short-term outcomes of ReSARCh (Rectal Sparing Approach after preoperative Radio- and/or Chemotherapy) trial, which is a prospective, multicenter, observational trial that investigated the role of transanal local excision (LE) and watch-and-wait (WW) as integrated approaches after neoadjuvant therapy for rectal cancer.
Methods: Patients with mid-low rectal cancer who achieved mCR or cCR after neoadjuvant therapy and were fit for major surgery were enrolled.
Background: The Canadian Syncope Risk Score (CSRS) has been proposed for syncope risk stratification in the emergency department (ED). The aim of this study is to perform an external multicenter validation of the CSRS and to compare it with clinical judgement.
Methods: Using patients previously included in the SyMoNE database, we enrolled subjects older than 18 years who presented reporting syncope at the ED.
The GISTs are rare tumours but even rarer is the localization in some districts. We reported two GISTs of the duodenum, two of the omentum and peritoneum, one of the rectum and one of a Meckel's diverticulum. These exceptional locations are confirmed by the relative difficult diagnosis, obtained in some cases only by the surgical treatment despite the CT and MR.
