Objective: This study aimed to assess postoperative intracranial pressure in patients with clinical and/or radiological features of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) undergoing endoscopic endonasal surgery for primary cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak repair.
Methods: Data was prospectively collected from 9 patients diagnosed with CSF nasal leaks who underwent corrective endonasal surgery between January 1, 2021, and October 31, 2022. Postoperative intracranial pressure was measured via lumbar puncture at least one month after surgery.
The advent of the video head impulse test (vHIT) enables the study of each one of the six semicircular canals. In the present study, certain patients present disorders related only to the vertical semicircular canals, and they were carefully evaluated. To investigate vestibular disorders limited to the vertical semicircular canals.

This increased effort has resulted in increased detection of insect-specific viruses among hematophagous arthropods collected in the field. This study aimed to document the first isolation of in mosquitoes collected within the Brazilian Amazon.

We aimed to examine the effects of an acupuncture protocol in motor time response after an auditory stimulus. : This study employed a case series design.

Nevertheless, the accurate manual quantification of the corresponding volumes remains a time-consuming task. Deep learning (DL) has demonstrated good performance in the segmentation of normal lung parenchyma and COVID-19 pneumonia.

Current medications for insomnia are associated with higher safety risks if clinical practice guidelines or monograph recommendations are not followed. This study aims to understand real-world prescribing practices among patients with insomnia in Canada, including medication utilization, potentially inappropriate medication use, cost incurred, and lines of treatment.

Background: Preterm birth and prolonged neonatal hospitalization are potential sources of stress for mothers of preterm and low birth weight infants.
Aim: To evaluate maternal stress and its association with neurobehavioral indicators of preterm infants during hospitalization in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital in Goiânia, Brazil.
Introduction: Mass screening for SARS-CoV-2 using nasopharyngeal swabs (NPS) is costly, uncomfortable for patients, and increases the chance of virus exposure to health care workers. Therefore, this study focused on determining if self-collected unpreserved saliva can be an effective alternative to NPS collection in COVID-19 surveillance.
Materials And Methods: In this study, patients being tested for SARS-CoV-2 using NPS were asked to provide a saliva sample to compare their results.
Understanding the signaling pathways in which genes participate is essential for discovering the etiology of diseases in humans. The model organism, Drosophila melanogaster, has been crucial in understanding the signaling pathways in humans, given the evolutionary conservation of a significant number of genes between the two species. Genetic screens using Drosophila are a useful way of testing large number of genes to study their function and roles within signaling pathways.

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is an ailment that causes serious damage to the productive chain, and its control through vaccination is of utmost importance for its eradication. Brazil initiated the National Foot-and-Mouth Disease Surveillance Program (PNEFA) with the aim of making the country FMD-free by 2026. As part of the program, notifications of vesicular lesions became mandatory for the Official Veterinary Service (OVS), which is responsible for verifying them.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the situation, with several outbreaks reported worldwide, including in Mexico. We describe the clinical and microbiological characteristics of a multicentric outbreak in private institutions in Mexico.

Ionizing radiation may cause structural damage to macromolecules, particularly DNA, mostly through an indirect pathway in diagnostic imaging. The indirect pathway primarily involves the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) due to water radiolysis induced by IR, leading to DNA damage, including double-strand breaks (DSB), which are highly cytotoxic.

Therefore, the underwater bathing area is usually overlooked. Our study aims to start the discussion about the litter in the bathing area, an important connection between the exposed beach and the ocean.

Physical exercise, such as Water Aerobics (WA), improves general health, quality of life and symptoms as a low impact activity that allows social interactions. Preliminary results suggest a relationship between dopamine and psychotic symptoms, through SP transcription factors, SP1 and SP4 biomarkers.

We tested the Universal Baby (UB) video innovation; an early interaction coaching tool using video sourced and produced locally with early child development (ECD) expert supervision.
Methods: This proof-of-concept study enrolled 40 caregivers of children ages 10-18 months assigned to intervention and control groups by health establishments in Carabayllo, Lima, Peru.
Staphylococcus aureus thrives at animal-human-environment interfaces. A large-scale work from our group indicated that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in commensal S. aureus strains from wild ungulates is associated with agricultural land cover and livestock farming, raising the hypothesis that AMR genes in wildlife strains may originate from different hosts, namely via exchange of mobile genetic elements (MGE).

Testing, diagnosis and treatment of sexual partners is essential to interrupt the chain of transmission, but since 2017 it is no longer a criterion for the proper treatment of pregnant women. We sought to analyze and synthesize the knowledge produced about the health care of sexual partners of adolescents with GS in Brazil.

Nowadays, the quantity of data generated has been growing exponentially, and the storage capacity needs to keep pace with the growth caused by new technologies and globalization. Since DNA can hold a large amount of information with a high density and remains stable for hundreds of years, this technology offers a solution for current long-term data centers by reducing energy consumption and physical storage space.

Among the stimuli able to prevent early decreases in bone mineralization, exercise has a noticeable role per se as the source of mechanical stimulus or through lean tissue enlargement by its increasing of tensional stimulus. However, prevention strategies, including exercise, generally do not establish the moment in life when attention should begin to be paid to bone integrity, according to age group- and sex-related differences. Thus, this study analyzed the relationship between variables from the diagnosis of total and regional body composition, muscle strength, and bone mineral content (BMC) of femurs in young adult males.
