In general, conventional chemotherapy is associated with significant toxicity leading to immunosuppression manifesting mainly in the lymphocyte depletion. This immunosuppression promotes tumor growth and elicits the tumor cell dissemination. However, chemotherapy can be immune stimulative especially in combination with an immunotherapy.
