Background/objectives: This PETHEMA PCR-LMA study aimed to evaluate whether mutations detected by NGS (VAF cut-off of ≥5%) correlate with NPM1, FLT3-ITD, FLT3-TKD, IDH1, and IDH2 mutations detected using conventional PCR (analytical sensitivity 3%) in a nationwide network of seven reference laboratories.
Methods: Between 2019 and 2021, 1685 adult AML patients with at least one centralized sample (NGS or PCR) at primary diagnosis or relapse/refractory episode were included.
Results: During this period, 1288 paired NGS/PCR samples (1094 at diagnosis, 103 at relapse and 88 at refractoriness) were analyzed.

Recent advancements in learning techniques that employ coordinate-based neural representations have yielded remarkable results in multi-view 3D reconstruction tasks. However, these approaches often require a substantial number of input views (typically several tens) and computationally intensive optimization procedures to achieve their effectiveness. In this paper, we address these limitations specifically for the problem of few-shot full 3D head reconstruction.

Methods: We conducted a multicentre retrospective observational study analysing all anaerobic strains isolated from blood cultures in 44 European Hospital Centres over a 4-year period (2020-2023). Diagnostic approach, epidemiology, and antimicrobial susceptibility according to EUCAST v.
Background: The relative contribution of the different components of mechanical power to mortality is a subject of debate and has not been studied in COVID-19. The aim of this study is to evaluate both the total and the relative impact of each of the components of mechanical power on mortality in a well-characterized cohort of patients with COVID-19-induced acute respiratory failure undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation. This is a secondary analysis of the CIBERESUCICOVID project, a multicenter observational cohort study including fifty Spanish intensive care units that included COVID-19 mechanically ventilated patients between February 2020 and December 2021.

Although adjuvant mitotane is commonly used, its potential for achieving cure rather than simply postponing inevitable recurrence remains uncertain. This study investigates whether mitotane impacts ACC recurrence patterns by preventing or delaying recurrence.

Our main aim was to apply a machine learning approach to the ECG analysis in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), to identify predictors of macroscopic fibrosis, a marker of ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.
Methods: 136 patients diagnosed with HCM were included.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a disease which initiates with insulin resistance. Then, pancreatic β cells start to counteract this situation by increasing insulin secretion, which is known as pre-diabetic state. Amylin protein or islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP), has multiple physiological roles such as the regulation of satiety and avoiding gastric emptying.

Some of these zoological parks are in endemic areas for both human and animal leishmaniosis, thus it should be very important to include this zoonosis in the differential diagnosis.
Methods: The study was carried out in two zoological parks in Madrid, Madrid Zoo and Faunia, and analyzed seven meerkats.
To determine whether 448 kHz capacitive-resistive monopolar radiofrequency (CRMR) after platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) injections can further reduce pain sensation within the first 72 h in an active population with patellar chondropathy. One-hundred fifty-three active patients with patellar chondropathy grade II-III were followed for three days after PRP injections with and without CRMR under a control-placebo study. They were clinically evaluated for pain sensation using a visual analog scale ranging from zero (no pain sensation) to ten (highest pain sensation).

Methods: We included 314 patients diagnosed with SjD according to the 2002 American-European Consensus Group criteria from a prospective, multicenter SjögrenSER Prospective cohort. Detailed data on systemic manifestations, serological markers, disease activity, and mortality were collected after a median of 9.
Hidden infections and late diagnoses are currently the main challenges of the HIV pandemic. Emergency departments (EDs) are one of the health care system's key resources addressing these challenges. In 2020, the Spanish Society of Emergency Medicine (SEMES) published recommendations for ordering HIV serology testing for patients with certain health conditions, and in 2021 SEMES launched the "Leave Your Mark" (Deja tu Huella - DTH) program to facilitate implementing the recommendations during emergency care.

Methods: This prospective, multicentre, observational study involved 440 FPIF patients with a minimum one-year follow-up. Data on demographics, clinical features, fracture characteristics, management, and mortality rates were collected and analyzed using both univariate and multivariate analyses.
Aims: Hypoalbuminemia is frequently found in patients with heart failure (HF), associated with higher morbimortality in acute HF (AHF). Moreover, Carbohydrate Antigen 125 (CA125) is elevated in most of the AHF patients. In this cohort of patients admitted for AHF, our objective was to evaluate the association between hypoalbuminemia and long-term outcomes, including mortality and HF readmissions, stratified by CA125 concentration.

Methods: We analyzed patients with CD diagnosed from January 2005 to May 2023 registered in the nationwide ENEIDA registry.
This review focuses on the latest advancements in using biomarkers to diagnose, predict outcomes, and guide the treatment of different types of thyroid cancer, such as anaplastic, papillary, medullary, and follicular thyroid carcinoma. We highlight the key role of both traditional and new biomarkers in improving the treatment of these cancers. For anaplastic thyroid cancer, biomarkers are crucial for detecting distant metastases and making treatment decisions.

Plant-plant interactions are major determinants of the dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems. There is a long tradition in the study of these interactions, their mechanisms and their consequences using experimental, observational and theoretical approaches. Empirical studies overwhelmingly focus at the level of species pairs or small sets of species.

This study evaluates the cost-effectiveness of LungFlag implementation in the Spanish setting for the identification of individuals at high-risk of NSCLC.
Methods: A model combining a decision-tree with a Markov model was adapted to the Spanish setting to calculate health outcomes and costs over a lifetime horizon, comparing two hypothetical scenarios: screening with LungFlag versus non-screening, and screening with LungFlag versus screening the entire population meeting 2013 US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) criteria.
Viral infections are major modulators of marine microbial community assembly and biogeochemical cycling. In coral reefs, viral lysis controls bacterial overgrowth that is detrimental to coral health. However, methodological limitations have prevented the identification of viral hosts and quantification of their interaction frequencies.

Once in soil, antimicrobials can exert direct and indirect toxic effects on plants by misbalancing plant-microbe symbiotic relationships. Ligand protected gold nanoclusters have been proposed for electrochemical CO reduction (eCOR) as an alternative to polycrystalline catalysts, showing higher selectivity control due to the tailored composition and precise microenvironment. Here, two gold cluster families are studied with different staple motifs (Au(SR) and Au(SR), where SR = thiolate) doped with Ag or Cu to understand the interplay between the composition and the performance of these catalysts. Detailed cluster characterization and Density Functional Theory simulations demonstrate that the dynamic aspects involving ligand removal are crucial to unraveling the role of the dopant, the cluster curvature, and the staple structure.
