Surgical Management of Complex Multiligament Knee Injury: Case Report.

Multiligament knee injuries (MLKIs) frequently require immediate intervention to prevent severe complications, including vascular injury. We present the case of a 51-year-old male who sustained a traumatic right knee dislocation following a motor vehicle accident. The patient exhibited significant tibiofemoral dissociation with Grade 3 instability, classified as Schenck KD IV.

New standard in locally advanced rectal cancer.

In the following review we intend to ascertain the optimal neoadjuvant therapy in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. In 2004, a study revealed that chemoradiotherapy (CRT) resulted in better local control when performed preoperatively rather than postoperatively, thus neoadjuvant treatment was established as a standard treatment. Subsequently, the Polish study and the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group showed no statistically significant difference between concomitant CRT over 5 wk short-course radiotherapy (RT).

[Radio and chemotherapy in gallbladder cancer: a Latin American Consensus].

No randomized controlled trials have been conducted in gallbladder cancer to establish standard treatments. We therefore conducted the first Latin American Consensus meeting for the management of gallbladder cancer. In this paper we report the conclusions of the experts' panel for (neo) adjuvant treatment of resectable gallbladder cancer.

Gallbladder cancer is a rare disease in Western developed countries, but it is a highly prevalent and lethal disease in Chile and other countries in Latin America. No randomized controlled trials have been performed in gallbladder cancer to establish standard treatments. We therefore performed the first Latin American consensus meeting for the management of gallbladder cancer.

[Is timing important in adjuvant radiotherapy?].

Unlabelled: The timing of adjuvant radiotherapy is subject of debate at clinical and administrative levels and of concern for the treating physician and also the patient. There is a lack of prospective randomized studies dealing with this point and it is highly unlikely that they could be carried on. However there is evidence coming from the laboratory and retrospective clinical studies which could be of help.
