Evaluation of research results is often difficult, and different indicators for the quantification and evaluation of scientific publications have been identified, as well as the development and success of the training programs of researchers.

On August, the second edition of the Healthcare Book Fair took place, sponsored by the Facultad de Medicina of UNAM. Again, the Revista Médica del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social participated with a stand where we promoted it, talked about the different indexes where our journal is included, explained its objective and scope, and finally talked about its nature as an open access journal, which is aimed to the clinical staff of the different health institutions of our country.

In Mexico, the career of Doctor of Medicine has been considered as a prerequisite stage to access the specialization. Of course the majority of medical graduates aspire to undertake postgraduate courses in the different institutions that have a university program. The Examen Nacional de Aspirantes a Residencias Médicas (ENARM) (National Evaluation for Medical Residency Applicants) has become for the supporters a gap between the possibility of practicing the profession in a decent way and with a regular remuneration or exercising it in very limited conditions and with low economic income or even without exercising it.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The aim of this work is to describe the causes of the obstetric emergency, which motivates the activation of the Immediate Response Team at a second level hospital of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, which has not an Intensive Care Unit for Adult Patients.
Methods: Retrospective observational study of the causes of obstetric emergency that occurred in the domains of Admission, Hospitalization, Labor, Delivery Room, Operating Room and Recovery of the Hospital General de Zona 53 of the IMSS, during the years 2014 and 2015.
Results: In 2014, were attended 3915 women due to obstetric cause; of them, 75 cases were of obstetric emergency and 3276 live births.
In the 19th century, the first journals in medicine appeared in order to disseminate knowledge among creators and discoverers, but especially among users of knowledge, some of these journals continue to be published nowadays. Subsequently, an organization that initially aspired to collect, sort, archive and distribute the publications: the Index Medicus. Over time, it was imperative to create indexes that measure the performance of journals and with that of researchers.

In Guadalajara, on August 19, 20 and 21 was held the XII Foro Nacional de Educación en Salud, in line with the interest that both, the Dirección General and the Dirección de Prestaciones Médicas of the IMSS, have in training and updating the human resources for the care of the beneficiaries.
