Background: Mounting evidence favors one-stage laparoscopic cholecystectomy with common bile duct exploration over endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with cholecystectomy for choledocholithiasis. However, laparoscopic cholecystectomy with common bile duct exploration remains underused.
