Objectives: Penile urethral stricture disease not associated with hypospadias is rare, and there is a wide range of commonly used surgical repair techniques for this disease. We sought to compile a multi-institutional database of patients who had surgical correction of strictures in the penile urethra not limited to the meatus, and who had no history of hypospadias, for analysis using the Trauma and Urologic Reconstructive Network of Surgeons length, urethral segment and etiology classification system.

Methods: A retrospective database from 13 institutions was compiled of patients who had undergone surgical correction of Trauma and Urologic Reconstructive Network of Surgeons length, urethral segment and etiology urethral stricture segments S2b/S2c and excluding E5, with a minimum follow-up time of 4 months.

Unlabelled: This study shows a diagnostic and therapeutic gap for osteoporosis in patients with fragility fractures of the hip, distal radius, and vertebrae. Patients with fragility fractures treated in Mexico fail to receive an osteoporosis diagnosis, referral, and follow-up treatment. The therapeutic gap is higher than reported in other countries.

Purpose: To critically evaluate a multi-institutional patient cohort undergoing Dorsal-Onlay Buccal Mucosal Graft Urethroplasty (D-BMGU) for recurrent post-radiation posterior urethral stenosis.

Methods: Retrospective multi-institutional review of patients with posterior urethral stenosis from 10 institutions between 2010-2019 was performed. Patients with at least 1-year follow-up were assessed.

Background: Menopausal women lose until 5% of their bone density during the first years of menopause. One of 12 Mexican women will suffer a hip osteoporotic fracture after the age of 50.

Objective: To assess the absolute risk of major fracture (vertebrae, hip and forearm) and hip fracture and to establish the relation between years of menopause and bone mineral density (BMD).

Background And Aims: Polymorphisms in Interleukin-6 (IL6) and its receptor (IL6R) have been associated with bone mineral density. In this work, the G-174C and G-572C polymorphisms in IL6, G-208A, and Asp358Ala in IL6R were analyzed in Mexican women with hip fracture.

Methods: Postmenopausal Mexican women (60 years or over) with hip fragility fracture (77.

Objective: To estimate the evaluation and intervention thresholds using FRAX® in Mexican population.

Methods: Probabilities for a mayor fracture using the Mexican FRAX® version to estimate the evaluation and intervention thresholds using clinical scenarios were obtained in both sexes 40 years and over. Projections for 2020 were done to estimate the number of patients at the intervention level taking the osteoporosis prevalence in Mexicans aged 50 years and over.

Objective: To measure the impact on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of a sample of Mexicans with vertebral fractures.

Material And Methods: One hundred fifteen subjects with vertebral fractures were interviewed and compared with 135 subjects similar in age without the fracture. Subjects were men and women > 50 years of age with osteoporosis confirmed by bone mineral densitometry and with at least 1 vertebral fracture verified by vertebral morphometry and Xrays.

Introduction: Hip fractures are an important cause of morbidity and mortality and one of the main causes of disability in the older population. The lifetime risk for any type of osteoporotic fracture is very high and falls within the range of 40–-50% in women and 13–-22% for men. In Mexico, the lifetime likelihood of having a hip fracture at 50 years of age is 8.

Introduction: Stroke is often associated with cognitive deterioration (CD) in varying degrees, and the risk factors associated to CD after a stroke vary from one study to another.

Aims: To determine the frequency of CD following cerebral infarction and to identify the factors that account for its presence.

Patients And Methods: A descriptive study was performed involving 126 stroke survivors who were hospitalised for rehabilitation.

Introduction: The stroke-specific quality of life scale (ECVI-38) is the first Spanish-language instrument for evaluating the quality of life in individuals who have survived a stroke.

Aim: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the third version of the ECVI-38.

Patients And Methods: A total of 243 stroke survivors were interviewed 2 months-2 years after the event; 61 of them were surveyed again 7-14 days later and 74 others were interviewed on beginning and ending a two-month period of rehabilitation.

Measuring quality of life (QOL) is important, but to date, questionnaires to measure QOL in Mexican patients with osteoporosis (OP) have not been validated. A study was carried out to culturally adapt and validate the Quality of Life Questionnaire of the European Foundation for Osteoporosis (QUALEFFO) in a Mexican population. Interviews were performed with 160 women, 80 patients with at least one vertebral fracture, and 80 patients with OP as determined by the World Health Organization criteria.

Introduction And Aims: Health-related quality of life (HRQL) is currently essential in the evaluation of stroke-related clinical trials. Existing stroke-specific scales were developed in English-speaking countries and most of them do not satisfy the necessary standards of validity. In consequence, the first Spanish-language scale for evaluating the quality of life (QL) of stroke survivors was developed (ECVI-38).

Introduction: The selection of a measure that can be used to evaluate the outcome of therapeutic interventions in stroke patients has had a conceptual problem in that there is a need to detect a wide range of deficiencies, disabilities and handicaps as part of a patient-based model. It has also suffered from a methodological problem due to the lack of systematic attention given to the development of standard instruments.

Aims: We conducted this study with the aim of getting over these limitations by developing a scale to evaluate the quality of life in stroke survivors.
