This paper offers a systematic review of advancements in electronic nose technologies for early cancer detection with a particular focus on the detection and analysis of volatile organic compounds present in biomarkers such as breath, urine, saliva, and blood. Our objective is to comprehensively explore how these biomarkers can serve as early indicators of various cancers, enhancing diagnostic precision and reducing invasiveness. A total of 120 studies published between 2018 and 2023 were examined through systematic mapping and literature review methodologies, employing the PICOS (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Study design) methodology to guide the analysis.

Although they provide fast and accurate results, most are developed using data from healthy populations. The changes in muscle size and quality following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury challenges the validity of these automated approaches in the ACL population.

Despite the well-documented health risks associated with tobacco use, it remains prevalent among adolescents. Games for health are a promising strategy for tobacco prevention, using experiential and social learning theories to enhance engagement and improve behavior change.

Since the cardiac vector is located within a three-dimensional space and the standard ECG comprises 12 projections or leads derived from it, redundant information is inherently present. This study aims to quantify this redundancy and its impact on classification tasks using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in cardiovascular diseases.

The creation of the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP) marked a significant milestone in the professionalization of emergency nurse practitioners (ENPs). This interview with Dr. Elda Ramirez, the founder of AAENP, explores the critical moments and challenges that led to the establishment of the organization.

Using data from Proyecto SALTO, a 15-year follow-up study of a cohort of Mexican American women in a low-income community in San Antonio, Texas, this study examines emerging patterns of current methamphetamine (MA) use, including opioid co-use, among this understudied population. A bivariate analysis compared individuals with and without current MA use and identified sociodemographic correlates and co-occurring mental health and substance use. A secondary analysis compared those with current MA use, opioid use, and concurrent MA and opioid use.

After its emergence, several variants have been identified that challenge the efficacy of the available vaccines. Previously, we generated and evaluated a vaccine based on a recombinant Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (rBCG) expressing the nucleoprotein (N) of SARS-CoV-2 (rBCG-N-SARS-CoV-2).

This population-based, retrospective cohort study utilized health insurance claims from a pediatric public accountable care organization (???Medicaid???) in central/southeastern Ohio. Patients aged 18 years and younger who had a dental procedure between January 2012 and February 2019 were identified, and claims were searched for opioid prescription fills within 14 days post-procedure.

Background: Impostor phenomenon (IP) is characterized as an internal sense of intellectual fraudulence and the inability to internalize success. It was identified by Clance and Imes in 1978 in a study with high-achieving women and has since been found among other professionals. Studies regarding IP are limited in nursing and among nursing students.

While analogical tests traditionally combine various composition rules for item generation, current statistical models like the Logistic Latent Trait Model (LLTM) and Embretson's Multicomponent Latent Trait Model for Diagnosis (MLTM-D) face limitations in handling the inherent complexity of these processes, resulting in suboptimal model fit and interpretation. The primary aim of this research was to extend Embretson's MLTM-D to encompass complex multidimensional models that allow the estimation of item parameters.

A holistic approach integrating well-being assessment could improve disease management. Since a consensus definition of well-being in psoriasis is not available, we aim to achieve a multidisciplinary consensus on well-being definition and its components.

However, despite vaccination success, sporadic outbreaks of HAV still occur among adults. This study aimed to assess the seroepidemiology of HAV in Argentina, analysing IgG and IgM antibodies against HAV in a large population, both vaccinated and unvaccinated.

Methods: Twelve subjects between 3-17 years old (yo), vaccinated with two doses of CoronaVac, were followed and diagnosed as breakthrough cases starting 14 days after receiving the second dose. Total IgGs against different SARS-CoV-2 proteins and the neutralizing capacity of these antibodies after infection were measured in plasma.
The global presence of pharmaceutical pollutants in water sources represents a burgeoning public health concern. Recent studies underscore the urgency of addressing this class of emerging contaminants. In this context, our work focuses on synthesizing a composite material, FeO/MAF-32, through a streamlined one-pot reaction process, as an adsorbent for diclofenac, an emerging environmental contaminant frequently found in freshwater environments and linked to potential toxicity towards several organisms such as fish and mussels.
