Alkaptonuria is a metabolic disorder characterized by homogentisic acid accumulation in connective tissue. Ochronotic arthropathy, a rare condition reported in alkaptonuria, mostly affects the knee joint. In this study we reported a 57-year-old male patient presented with bilateral hip pain.

Biomechanical study of using patient-specific diaphyseal femoral cone in revision total knee arthroplasty (rTKA).

Background: The primary objective of revision total knee surgery is to achieve solid bone fixation. Generally, this could be accomplished using sleeves and long stems, which require substantial remaining bone stock and may increase the risk of stem tip pain. An alternative approach involves the use of customized diaphyseal cones, which can preserve the integrity of the bone canal.

Hypertrophic synovial plica in the lateral side of the knee - A case report: Case report and literature review.

Introduction: Plicae or synovial folds can be detected in different joints, especially around the knee. Synovial plicae pathologies are rare conditions with difficulty in diagnosis because of various symptoms overlapping with other diseases.

Presentation Of Case: We reported a rare case of symptomatic hypertrophic synovial plica in the lateral side of the knee in a 12-year-old boy following a traumatic event almost two years before the surgery.

Patellectomy, an old treatment in patellar fracture which is still alive: A case report.

Introduction: Comminuted patella fractures comprise 55 % of patellar fractures. In spite of advances in internal fixation of patella, patellectomy remains an effective treatment in comminuted fractures. In the shadow of different efficient methods of internal fixation, little attention is paid to patellectomy as an old treatment in patellar fracture which is a treatment option in circumstances like comminuted fractures and osteomyelitis.

Effect of anterior cruciate ligament injury on acceleration response of knee joint.

This study investigated the effect of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury on relative acceleration of the tibia and femur during a number of tests/activities, in order to assess the feasibility of acceleration-based diagnosis of ACL injury using inertial sensors. First, a detailed finite element model of the knee joint was developed to simulate the target tests/activities, and identify those in which a large difference between the maximum acceleration peaks (MAPs) of the healthy and ACL injured knees is likely to be observed. The promising tests/activities were entered in an experimental study, where the relative accelerations of the tibiae and femurs of 20 individuals with unilateral ACL injury, allocated randomly to two groups of conscious and unconscious test conditions, were recorded.

Grisel's syndrome and Down syndrome: a case report.

Grisel's syndrome is a non-traumatic subluxation of the atlantoaxial joint following an inflammatory process in the upper respiratory tract. Patients with Down syndrome have higher risks of developing atlantoaxial instability. This issue is mainly due to low muscle tone, loose ligaments, and alterations to the bone in patients with Down syndrome.

A rare case of fully recovered necrotizing fasciitis.

Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a severe soft tissue infection caused by bacterial fascia invasion and quick spreading to the muscle and subcutaneous tissues. Treatments of NF should be conducted by extensive debridement and antibiotic therapies. This report presented a 53-year-old woman with diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypothyroid who was referred to our medical center with lower limb pain and significant swelling after mild trauma.

Background: Hemodialysis (HD)-associated ocular abnormalities are one of the causes of morbidity among people undergoing HD.
