The clinical use of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in cancer patients has been associated with nephrotoxicity, which is greatly curbing its therapeutic application. The pathogenesis of 5-FU-induced nephrotoxicity is complex; however, oxidative stress-mediated inflammation is considered a central pathogenic factor. Urolithin B (UB), a product of ellagitannins, has recently been assigned diverse pharmacological activities due to its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Besides its antidiabetic activity, the dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitor sitagliptin (SG) has been recently assigned diverse pharmacological activities and therapeutic potential against different disorders owing to its emerging antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The current study explored the potential hepatoprotective effect of SG on α-naphthyl isothiocyanate (ANIT)-induced cholestatic liver injury (CLI) in mice and investigate its possible targeted signaling pathways.

The mechanisms by which SLC25A1 deficiency leads to this disease and the role of 2HG are unclear and no therapies exist. We now show that mice lacking both Slc25a1 alleles display a spectrum of alterations that resemble human D/L-2HGA.

Protein glycation in diabetic subjects leads to diabetic complications as nephropathy and neuropathy. We investigated the impact of pomegranate hexane extract (PHE) as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiglycation in diabetic rats.

CIC belongs to a large family of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial transporters that serve the fundamental function of allowing the transit of ions and metabolites through the impermeable mitochondrial membrane. Citrate is central to mitochondrial metabolism and respiration and plays fundamental activities in the cytosol, serving as a metabolic substrate, an allosteric enzymatic regulator and, as the source of Acetyl-Coenzyme A, also as an epigenetic modifier.

Currently, there is no approved treatment for NASH. The mitochondrial citrate carrier, Slc25a1, has been proposed to play an important role in lipid metabolism, suggesting a potential role for this protein in the pathogenesis of this disease.

Materials And Methods: Liver and muscle tissues of livestock grazing on the selected areas were analyzed for the content of Co and vitamin B12.
Results: Our results indicated that the levels of Co in surface soil (0-15 cm) were higher than in sub-surface soil (>15 cm-45 cm).
