Pleomorphic Giant Cell Carcinoma and Periurethral Abscess: A Case Report.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common solid malignancy in men in the UK. Pleomorphic giant cell carcinoma (PGCC) is a rare, aggressive variant of prostate adenocarcinoma. PGCC is associated with a poor prognosis and high Gleason-grade characteristics, often occurring in patients with a history of PCa treatment.

Real-word outcomes for high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer: screened patients for the BRAVO trial.

Objective: To report real-world outcomes for high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (HRNMIBC), including bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) and radical cystectomy (RC), as randomised comparisons of these have not been possible.

Methods: We detail consecutive participants screened for the BRAVO randomised controlled trial comparing RC with BCG (International Standard Randomised Controlled Trial Number [ISRCTN]12509361). Patients were prospectively registered and case-note review used for outcomes.

Tangible effects of the COVID-19 pandemic: A fall in dexterity amongst surgical trainees?

Background: The coronavirus pandemic has had an indisputable impact on surgical training. The qualitative effect on the perceived confidence and capability of trainees has been widely reported. In order to fully delineate the scope of the problem, quantitative data is also required.

Information leaflet used in out-patient clinics: a survey of attitude and understanding of the user.

Purpose: To assess patients' attitude towards information leaflets, their understanding of the given information, and the time factor involved in an out-patient clinic set-up.

Design/methodology/approach: A total of 50 patients who received depot preparation of Methyl Prednisolone as local injections in an out-patient hand-clinic were given 15 minutes to read the patient information leaflet and were simultaneously asked to answer a questionnaire.

Findings: Patients want to be informed and are willing to spend more time and effort on information leaflets.

Predictive ability of partin tables 2001 in a Welsh population.

Objectives: Partin tables are widely used to select and counsel patients prior to radical surgery for prostate cancer. However, Partin tables have been developed in the USA which has a different ethnic mixture from that of North Wales. We aimed to assess Partin tables' predictive ability in a Welsh population.
